Hi to everyone,
I try to rebuild a cactus Canyon with many missing parts.
I still do not have these train Body parts. I got the train but not the two body parts. Also the cabinet wiring is Missing. Maybe somebody can Help.
Regards Wolfgang
Hey fine folks of the club, just joined today!
Unfortunately, after completing the test games and having the handshake done, it only took a few games for several things to stop working, mainly the following kicks: Auto-Plunger, Gold Mine Kickout + Bart Kickout.
I wonder if these are all routed through a shared wire or something, seems very odd they would just all stop working. Maybe someone here has some experience like that and can give me a heads up?
Would be highly appreciated!

I Would start with checking for voltage at each coil then fire each coil in solenoid test then reseating all the plugs on the opto board.
can anyone tell me if there is a correct place to mount the plaque ,,, i relize i can put it anywhere but id still like to see where it was intended
thanks
Looking for a little help troubleshooting my CCC.
I shorted out a GI strand, replaced the fuses and fixed that, but now I seem to have disabled my low power solenoids.
I can see from the user manual that I somehow managed to trip a specific row of switches.
Left sling
Right sling
Left jet
Right jet
Bottom jet
Right loop top
Right bonus x lane
Left loop top
Everything else seems to work fine. I can get the slings to fire in test mode but they do not register when manually triggered in switch test.
I feel like I went through all the fuses. Is there something I am missing?
Machine is running a proc and continued mod.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: Seems like it has something to do with the green and black wire coming off of J19 on the PROC board. Ordered a new one. Will see if that fixes the problem.
Added over 2 years ago:Fixed for those who give a shit.
Replaced proc board and cap on sling switch. Sling still didnt work and no start button lit. Went to update in settings, not sure if it did anything but shit started working after a reset.
Hi!
I have a little problem with my CCC.
In switch test
- switch 13 "start button" works ok
- switch 14 "plumb bob tilt" works on occasion, when the tilt touches the rim - seems like it has to be a specific spot on the metallic rim around the tilt
- switch 15 "mine entrance" works well and seems to activate when the ball is nearing the mine (what kind of switch is there in use, apparently not an opto)
- switch 16 "left outlane" does not work
- switch 17 "right return lane" does not work
- switch 18 "shooter lane" does not work
I am a newbie in error hunting/correcting. What should I check - is it something wrong here between switches 15 and 16?
Attached is a pic of the switch matrix.
Thanks for any help!

Possible problem is lack of continuity for the green/brown switch column wire. Follow it through from the mine entrance to the left outlane (mine entrance is a reed switch on a flying lead so check the wires going in to the plug.

It is strange, but this row "sprung to life" for some reason and I have not experienced problems with it since. I remember though that it did it sometime before as well and cured also all of a sudden.
However, now another row has problems.
In row 4, switch 41-46 do not work, 47 seems to work.
I noticed a bad looking solder to the other opto on switch 42, but it should not affect the switch in 41 I think?
I tried reinserting connector J206 to the P-roc board, but it did not help.
What should I look for to fix the problem? This might be above my skill-level, so I may have to ask for some outside local help, but I would like to try to fix it myself first.
EDIT: It seems that it was switch 47 that was causing problems. There is a connector that goes to the switch. When I touched the connector by hand, the switch test started registering. I just removed and reinserted the connector and now the row of switches is working again...

Any tips on how to adjust the bad guy targets? Should they be on the level with the playfield or little lower?
I notice that in my game the ball now jumps a bit at the bad guy target, when its in the low position. Could be also that the cliffy that I put there makes the ball jump a bit.
I need to do a sanity check after looking at the remake videos: in the original CC the ball does not move along the railroad track, right? [Or do I have some malfunction in my original CC]
Never mind - it does move around the tracks after all. I need to check if my mind if playing tricks on me or is there a problem with my game.
Quoted from The_Pump_House:Where is the mine flasher located/supposed to be located?
Under the ‘mine’ mountain plastic above the scoop.
So, original CC owners, what do we think about the remake?
Anyone worried about this making their original less valuable ? Not me, I have it already 10 years and am not really busy with resale value.
I really like how the game looks. The colored animations look amazing. Would be nice if someone can import it into CCC
I am very interested to learn how the software is now and what is changed.
The train tracks are a good idea, am going to try to 3d print these.
What's your opinion that it sold out so fast ?
I hope for many people it's going to be a keeper. It's an easy game but very fun, probably everyones kids will love it. I hope not too many will be disappointed that it's easy and flip it after a few months or start to talk bad about it.

I think it's great and I'm not bothered about any effect on the value of mine. I've had it 15 years and don't plan to get rid of it any day soon.
My Cactus gets little improvements as I see ideas from other games - I think the big screen is a definite upgrade for mine, something I've wanted since I saw the MB remake, and I've put mettalic gold side blades on it and used warm white LEDs for the GI (except for some yellow in the top right). My guns and other toys have had lovely artwork improvements too.
What I was hoping to see was the saloon doors implemented, since I lack the skills to make them myself. I like the topper on the remake buy mine cost me about £5 so I don't feel the need to get that
I like what CGC is doing very much and was considering selling my original CCC and buying a CCR, but came to the conclusion that it would be too much hassle and the upgrade would not mean that much visually for me either as my game is restored, with chrome trim and custom painted gun handles and also I think I would miss CCC and its tribute modes, cowboys/aliens -mode etc. I have the other remakes with toppers, so it was a difficult choice for me, but it was made easier also cause the LE-version is non-existent for regular buyers.
I do would like to have the bigger screen and the topper. Wish someone would know how to implement the topper to work with CCC and one would be able to buy some conversion kit for CCC then. I will keep my eye out on the comings mods too - railroad track could be nice for my game as well.
I'm also curious about the code, but have no intension of selling my original that I've had and enjoyed for 15 plus years. The CCC upgrade was a big plus and I did mine in Black Nickel, damn that thing looks awesome. As far as values, I think the original will always bring a few more dollars then a remake to a true collector and as a collector, remakes just don't seem to appeal to me, but I'm happy for the people who get to enjoy the remakes too
I've had my Canyon for a very long time. At least a month.
I bought it knowing the remake was coming
I also bought mine knowing they would be remade. Would rather have a nice original any day. When it breaks I can fix it. Could care less about toppers and RGB lighting. The CCC package is enough code for me.
The LE remake inspired me to add some train tracks to my original CCc.
Couldn't find an actual mod for this so I hacked up a TWD mod from Back Alley Creations.
Not sure if I will keep the ones in the back.
I'm looking forward to the remake. More pinball the better. Original CC's are still fairly rare and EP's Continued code makes it a unique experience.
I am not interested in the remake CC. I love my CCC especially after upgrading the computer, the LCD and the shut down controller. The 2019 version of Continued is Awesome and has some nice added touches. I would however purchase the topper from CGC. I did this for my MM and was able to install it to interact with the game. I would do the same for the CGC topper. It would not work the same as the remake game, but it still is the best topper you could put on a CC.
I just put some 3D models in my shapeways shop:
Saloon doors and logo, this goes before the Bart head and hides the metal wireframe.

Small trainstation building to hide the metal box and gears.

Note that the models from Shapeways come in white plastic, you need to paint them yourself.
I don't intend to start painting and selling them myself, shipping from Europe is too expensive.
If someone in the EU wants to order them painted then pm me.

Good idea, i just ordered a set, thank you!!
Just joined the original club. A really nice untouched original. All matching numbers and still running the incandescents. It had battery leaking just starting. Thank god only the holder was affected.
LEDs really changed its appearance.
Does anyone think some of the new code may be made available to use on the originals?
Congrats on the new game. We also got a nice original about eight months ago. We have been enjoying the game with latest factory code and the color dmd really makes the graphics pop. We hope to eventually get the CCC code running on ours too. epthegeek is who created the code and he is currently working to make the code work on a RPI4 which is very exciting! Nothing like a nice original to play and Eric's code is really good!

Did you do the color display fix? https://soldmy.org/pin/ccc/index.php/Recompiling_PyPinPROC_for_CCC_Color_Support
If so, maybe just share that image - I got sidetracked on the rpi front.

Happy to share the image if there's no problem with including the assets, which was a problem in the past. It's on my google drive so PM me if you want it...
The color fix is for the 'layering' of color assets - like when the tumbleweed rolls by the logo in the attract mode. without that tweak, it looks like garbage.
Anything I made, I don't care. But it's not the bits I made that are ever the problem with this thing.

Yes, it's compiled with the newer DMD.C - Also works in HD if you enable it in the config...

Very nice! I am really looking forward to getting more time on CCC in the near future.
Hello CC owners,
I am having issues with the MRS for the top right loop. It is registering whenever the coils in the area go off. (Bart toy, Bart toy hat, and saloon popper.) if I disconnect these coils the issue is resolved but then the coiled won’t work. I’ve also tried different MRS in that position, from the mine and pop bumper exit, but show the same issue in the top right switch. The switch is tight to the play field. I saw another thread about this issue but there was no resolution. If someone has had this issue before, I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to fix it.
Thanks

For those of you that are wonder I was able to fix the issue with the MRs with the help of Matt. We were able to fix it by putting magnetic shield tape over the switch itself. If you have any trouble with your MRS I highly recommend talking to Matt.

Glad to be of help Grant! MRS' are our life at M&M Creations - and 99% of the time those original MRS' (of the 5 in CC) never go bad. Your case was fascinating - it's one of the oddest applications of an MRS - one that we wouldn't have recommended if we were designing a pin - but WMS certainly put in there and for most owners - not a problem; but for you - EMI was a problem for that MRS. The tape is the usual fix for low-level EMI - and it worked perfectly. I really wonder how long it was doing that for before you were able to notice - could have been years?

Wow, looks very nice! I am no good at painting myself, so its no use for me to buy the mods, but I do admire a good thing when it comes together this nicely!
I needed to resurrect this thread. I have to admit, it took some time to dig it up as there are so many cactus canyon remake threads now.
Anyway, my question relates to the gold mine. For some reason, it seems to stay in the "low position" in my game and hardly ever rises. I did a switch test and it seems to register ball hits, but its just not moving much in the game. I do have seen it go totally up and down in a game on occasion, but I think it should be moving much more - perhaps so that when you hit it with a ball, it rises a notch or so?
EDIT: I just unplugged and plugged in the two connectors that go into the reed switch below playfield and now the mine seems to raise up on more occasions.
However, one question more: when the mine is in its lowest position, should one be able to shoot the ball into the mine? I can do it with my game, so maybe I have installed the wooden "mine entrance" piece a bit too high up - or maybe its just that way and one can shoot a ball in if one is lucky, even when the mine is in the lowest position?

I believe CC has 2 MRS' in the mine entrance position - you need to be sure both are working - they were put there together to cover a greater area of registration - only 1 may be working and thus the ball won't be as detected as often...just ensure both are working...if not - then one may have come loose and is not picking up the ball as it rests down too far - so be sure to press both firmly up into the pocket...

Thanks for posting!
I'm glad you like it.
I was amazed myself how much they change the look of the game.
Anyone tried, would this railroad mod fit to classic CC? The website does tell that it is for CCR only, but it might be that they haven't had a chance to try to install it to a classic CC.
