Quoted from Grantman:

Predictions for a new BTTF pinball machine from Kapow! and Stern:
Concept: Joe Kaminkow
Design: Keith Elwin
Art: Chris Franchi
Code: Dwight Sullivan
Announcement date: I have a guess!

That sounds amazing to me. Dwight is one of the best pinball programmers out there as he codes moments and that is exactly what a pin like Back to the Future needs. Back to the Future pinball needs be heavily story based (versus the main focus being points) and I can't think of a better pinball programmer then Dwight to pull that off.

With all of that being said if Dwight or anyone else at Stern is reading this please make the game crazy deep! Hopefully the pin is based off of all 3 movies. If that's the case an approach of 3-5 (please 5 lol) objective based modes + 1 mid wizard mode per movie would be nice to see. Top everything off with a super wizard mode.

Universal is not cheap.
Expect more Disney from stern since the new president was a former employee and will get good deals on licensing.

Drooling.

Quoted from EZ-Rhino:

Anyone have their name on an interest list with distributors for BTTF? Obviously there hasn't been confirmation of the game by Stern as of yet but wondering if any of your have your name with distros in the event the game surfaces...

Duh. x2

#1106 11 months ago

Dwight is my favorite programmer. Dwight is definitely coding BTTF. He has dropped so many hints at this point. The amazing moments he has coded in Star Wars and Mando should have everyone hyped for a Dwight coded BTTF!

Goddamn it Dwight would be one of the worst possible choices. Please don't be Dwight. JFC

Go here for many hints. Dwight Sullivan kept slipping in BTTF references. Begins right away at 4:36:22 I think there are more nuggets during their Q&A 5:11:24

Probably reading way too much into this, but it's funny that they're playing a game about catching frisbees and BTTF pt. 3 had a whole bit about the pie tins being Frisbees.

Deep. I like it. I wasn’t thinking 4th dimensionally!

Lol I can see people at Stern cracking up at some of our comments.

Wait a second, Dwight had Nikes on at that QA! Marty had Nikes on during the movies! Back to the Future trilogy pinball is imminent.

and I once saw Joe kaminkow drink a pepsi, it has to be happening

Had another idea.. Mr fusion (krups 223A) are no longer made (which is why they sell for $200 on ebay/etsy). Someone on thingiverse was nice enough to model the whole thing. Imagine the topper being mr fusion, tied into a fog machine. When the delorean gets low on fuel, you need to collect garbage. When you have enough garbage, mr fusion opens up and steam comes out

I'm thinking about going to see our boys at the Fan Expo in Philly in a few weeks. I feel like they are probably not going to be doing conventions much longer.

So if JPP has Harry Potter does that accelerate Stern releasing BTTF to beat them to the flood of cash? https://www.knapparcade.org/post/joe-kaminkow-states-that-jersey-jack-pinball-has-the-happy-potter-license

I doubt it has an impact on BTTF (but looks more likely that Stern/Kapow! has the BTTF license). All of these games are in the planning stages for years and nobody knows when another company is going to release which game. Either it's Elwin's game that's done already and waiting to be released, or they are working on it and it will be released whenever they have it scheduled. I think the only time games were switched around on the schedule (that we know of) was last year when they had to get Bond out by a certain date for the 60th anniversary.

I think his Facebook got hacked. Why would kaminkow leak what a competitor has a license to, then post a fake rendering of a Harry Potter game in a stern cabinet?

Because he would be happy anyone got the license, one that was never supposed to happen.

News from Michael J Fox:

Fox made the statement to Variety as part of a cover story regarding his new documentary film “Still.” He told the outlet that he’s not fanatical. “Do what you want. It’s your movie. I got paid already.” He also didn’t seem to think that rebooting the franchise was a good idea anyway.

“I don’t think it needs to be,” Fox continued. “I think Bob [Robert Zemeckis] and Bob [Gale] have been really smart about that. I don’t think it needs rebooting because are you going to clarify something? You’re going to find a better way to tell the story? I doubt it.”

#1124 11 months ago

So if no reboot, then license the crap out of the original content!

1) That was a long time ago.
2) Have you seen the amount of BTTF merchandising lately, including with MJF's face? See https://backtothefuture.shop/ where MJF launched a new line of BTTF items.
3) See my post about the BTTF slot machine: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bttf2-hype-great-scott/page/22#post-7562203

I don't think it was personally him, it was either his agent or the movie studio that couldn't agree to a licensing fee. Also watched his recent documentary, crazy how much he struggled starting out.

I just discovered that this website has a "Pinball Hype Index" where they "track all the latest pinball machine theme buzz so you don't have to. These are the most hyped pinball themes from pinball's biggest fans."
They have 193 (!) themes listed, with BTTF as #1.

And has been for some time! Far and away the theme people tend to discuss most.

Broken token podcast 111, troy from tilt amusements talks about people being put on lists for upcoming titles. They mention how people have been asking to be on the back to the future list for the past 6 years. I edited it down to 2.5 minutes:

I got on a list 2 years ago. I hope it was early enough or they make enough. I think 1985 LEs and 88 Super LEs would suffice.

I'll probably get the home version.

I've been on a list for a few years, I better still have my spot

#1139 11 months ago

I really hope they make it look great. I mean, obviously making it an amazing game is the top priority, but everytime I see the DE Star Wars and play it I dig it more than the new stern one. I just don't want a photoshopped playfiels art and loop ramps. I mean, the main dream of any kid playing NES BTTF was hoping to drive the delorean...and that blowed with theme integration. The DE game was missing something though. I was excited when I saw and and seriously left a ball in play after the 1st game.... if it was prettier I wouldn't be opposed to owning it.

NES bttf was an abomination. Skateboarding down the street avoiding bees, glass windows, and girls swinging hula hoops while throwing bowling balls. It's as if the game creators never even saw the movie. I know it was harder to make themed games with limited graphics but other themes did it just fine. Look at Goonies.

#1142 11 months ago

I know! Like there's so many easy things they could've done! I had the worst luck in picking out games as a kid. I rarely got any and when I did, it was BTTF!

He also made a second one five years later.

I stumbled on a BTTF Collectors group on Facebook. It has 14,000 members. Another one called "Back To The Future Forever" has 95,000 members!

Those videos are hilarious. I never played the BTTF NES games (even though I had an NES). I'm glad I didn't pay $50 for those 30+ years ago.

FYI, Tomy (the toy company) is making a BTTF DeLorean replica (1/10 scale) for $300. Apparently they are launching it via Kickstarter in July. There is a private Facebook group about it (anybody can join): https://www.facebook.com/groups/bttftimemachinediecastmetalreplicavips/

There is a $5 fee to get on their "VIP list":
https://backtothefuture.tomy.com/reservation/
"Get first in line for the limited edition Back to the Future Time Machine collectible when we launch on Kickstarter this Summer. Plus, get VIP-exclusive perks including a FREE 3" Einstein figure ($20 value)."

I went ahead and paid the $5 to make sure I get one of these (even though it's probably not necessary). I wasn't able to get one of the original Hot Toys DeLorean models and now those are over $1,000. I do have a few of the smaller Jada models. I might have too many DeLoreans to display

Aren't those wires running along the side supposed to be black, not red? TOMY trying to influence it's brand color?
