Save the clock tower!

BTTF is a great game and I miss it. Multiball light show with LEDs is amazing and love the Biff callouts.

#3 9 years ago

I am waiting on pinball life for my bayonet flashers so I can put it back together.

#4 9 years ago

Please make sure you rate the pin, if you love the theme, that's high points, even though game play isn't deep, I would rather have this pin than about 50 others in the top 100. This one deserves respect!

#5 9 years ago

I'm in, this game rocks! The whole family loves this game and glad I picked it up!

My only "mod" so far. More to come.

Missing my apron screws. How long are they?

#12 9 years ago

This is my kind of club! I traveled almost 27 hours over 3 days to get mine and I would do it again!

1. BTTF III Delorean on the shooter lane (tracks on the shooter lane go well with this model) 1:43 scale Sun Star
2. Mattel Hoverboard
3. Pepsi Perfect Sticker on both sides of my Pingulp
4. LED lighting underneath
5. Biff's hoverboard by the Clocktower shot (no pic)
6. Nike Air Mag Keychain for coin door (no pic)
7. Blue light display instead of orange (original owner had done this and it looks amazing!)
8. BTTF II Future hat - Must be worn at all times while playing

I also have a replica of Biff's cane head that I am in the process of getting done that will be the shooter rod.

Don't know if this is considered a Pinball Mod or not... Had the car before the pinball.

Love my BTTF and it is a favorite at The Game Preserve.

That's some good stuff, well done. Where did you get the hoverboards from? And the Biff's cane shooter rod sounds great. Post pics up when that's done please.

I'll have to post some pics of my BttF. I just got mine last month.

Does anyone have a list of leds they used for their machine? I'm thinking about taking the led plunge!

I will try to take a count when I get time. I do know that there is a ton of bayonet flashers. Out of the 50 I ordered I have about 6 left.

#17 9 years ago

i really didnt have a list just ordered in bulk.

I actually just watched this the other day, had no idea it was new. Assisted with showing things other vids didn't...ended up buying a BTTF shortly thereafter. Once it's delivered, I'll be back to join this club!

Awesome mods! I want a BTTF again!

Just did my restoration of my BTTF. Automotive clearcloated the PF and cabinet.

#30 6 years ago

Longtime owner of BTTF here...I believe I got mine in 2009. Love the game. I wish someone would make a repro ramp for this machine! I had to repair mine where it connects to the right sling because the previous owner overtightened the screw and snapped the plastic mount. My LEDs are old and I need to upgrade them to Comet ones. Fun simpler game. Mine is a keeper.

Does anyone know of any cabinet decals or artwork file for printing?

#32 6 years ago

anyone have any idea on locating new plastics?

Cabinet decals:
http://www.pinball.center/en/shop/pinball-parts-by-game/back-to-the-future/5738/cabinet-decal-set-for-back-to-the-future
http://www.retrorefurbs.com/shop/back-to-the-future-pinball-cabinet-decals/

My sides are pretty decent, most likely I can get away with touching up small areas or scanning it and making my own. My front however is severely planked but I don't want to buy a full set just to do the front.

#34 6 years ago

Anyone have any idea on locating a replacement PF? Doesn't need to be perfect, but needs to be restorable.

How about a replacement ramp?

#35 6 years ago

Had resetting issues (along with occasional sound garbling), did a shotgunning of capacitors and transistors on the power supply, display stopped working (but I know the display functions by swapping it in whirlwind).

So getting a replacement power supply on friday from K's arcade:
https://ksarcade.net/pt-8345-power-supply-for-williams-and-data-east.html

I don't trust rottendog, and they said most vendors aren't selling X-pin boards because of issues (only Nitro seems to carry it). Hoping this fixes most of my issues.

On a sidenote, I want to build a bunch of mods for this game since it's my favorite movie trilogy. Seen a bunch of great ideas in various threads (pepsi perfect pingulp, railroad tracks, delorean hooked up to flasher circuit, mini hoverboard, wild gunman paper model). I don't want to just build a bunch of parts and randomly put them on the playfield, I want it to look cohesive and planned out. In general, the left ramp seems to be the western side, and the right seems to be the 2015 side (flying delorean, floating sign). 2 things I want to do right off the bat:

1. Build a 3d printed lighted twin pines sign to cover one of the metal brackets on the back:
twin_pines_mall_sign_mod (resized).jpgtwin_pines_mall_sign_mod (resized).jpg

2. Replace the clock tower with a 3d printed courthouse mall from 2015:

I currently have a rottendog PSU board in mine. Working like a charm. So far.

#38 6 years ago

Great mod ideas Joe. I'm in for both if made. How about a video playback mod that ties into the theme as well like the Iron Man you made?

#39 6 years ago
Quoted from Deafcon:

Absolutely.. I want the twin pines in the middle back somewhere because it's somewhere between future and past.. There is twin pines art on the plastic under the ramp but it's buried. I had no idea that was even there until I opened up future pinball and browsed through art and went (where the hell is that plastic?)

Quoted from adamgacek:

I definitely want to do an LCD mod, but don't know which way I want to go. Do I go down the path of the future hologram display on the 2nd floor that plays clips from the movie? Or do I 3d model the wild gunman arcade machine with game footage looping and do a partial 80's cafe backsplash?

#40 6 years ago

Rough print of twin pines sign (using an LED flashlight to test). The tree top extended over top but it was too thin to print clean so I may have to thicken it. I want to bump up the yellow in the clock, and I would obviously paint the white bezel silver. Sign is 3" wide for scale.

Very nice. I would be interested, but I would like to see if I could fit a small LED watch face into where the time is for a real clock. Nice design. Have you ever thought of contacting Swinks and working with him? He has well-engineered CFTBL mods (snack bar mod, tail light mod, movie poster mod) through Shapeways and the two of you together might pull of some really cool stuff.

BTTF owners usually have a high attachment to the game due to the movie, so well-executed mods would probably sell well.

I'm in for these as well. I have a few other ideas swimming around too.

#43 6 years ago

Tested soundboard in a friend's DE secret service, same issue. My board is on it's way to boryguard.

Another mod I'm planning, a proper drink holder

Looks like I'm out of the club...for now. I've owned my BTTF since 2009 and it is certainly been a lot of fun to own. An opportunity arose to puchase a practically NIB Ghostbusters Pro for a great price (later date w/ no ghosting issues hopefully). For price reference, I sold my BTTF for $3700. The sale included a complete set of NOS plastics, an extra metal ramp, and a couple NOS target decals. The prices for these machines are really getting up there. It was an offer I couldn't refuse. I'd say my machine was about an 7.5/10 overall. It funded most of my Ghostbusters Pro and I'm enjoying the heck out of it!

I'm going to be really ticked if someone molds a new main plastic ramp for this machine! I looked for one forever!

Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one!

It's going to happen at some point. If I can't make it, I might know someone that can.

Good to know what yours sold for. it's insane what people are willing to pay for BTTF now.

First test print of clock tower, and a sloppy paint job. I'm still printing separate pillars (clock is clear to be backlit). Probably going to separate the black glass / grid pattern so it's clean. It's going to be impossible to do a good job of painting in between the lines.

. . . an extra metal ramp . . .

Metal ramp? You made this from scratch I presume.

Let me know how that goes; I'd be interested in one. I also have scans of the ramp decals to recreate if needed.
