This winter (Live in Oz) planning to build an interface for my cube to become a topper for BSD.
The cube 8 x 8 x 12 RGB LEDs – See here.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rgb-led-cube-bragging-rights

Before building the interface I need to have an idea what I’m going to interface with. To keep it simple I’m interfacing with lamps, coils and other features, not with the Game’s CPU.

So if you guys have suggestion on what would be cool and achievable add your comments here. It would be good if your comments have what feature and what the animation would be.

The cube is capable of 4096 colours (thinking of reducing to 256 colours to keep the processing speed up), it can have bit maps but its resolution in not great, so detail is not great. Not good for a 3D face, but possible.

Ideas I have are
Light the cube green while the “mist ball” travels across the PF
Connect to a flashers and light the room as lightening followed by rain.
A ball that bounces when you score a coffin lock.
A William’s logo.

Looking forward to other people’s ideas.

I love those RGB cubes but I have always wondered why not use addressable LEDs? then just a common +/- and a data line?

definitely reduce your color count, even 256 colors is going to be very subtle (if even distinguishable) between one step of one color to the next

I would do little "waves" or wisps for the mist ball, since it's supposed to be mist

you could do a heart for the ball save if you can figure that out from the lamp matrix easily, noo really sure

a cross for the jackpot??

could end up with some really neat results

Quoted from flecom:

That's a good idea, Like it. Maybe a pulsing hart.

Mist ball, a sine wave fading in and out.

I already have the cube made and working. but you could use addressable LEDs.
You can get 32bit process from $6, Ardunios are a bit dearer, still Uno for $14 delivered. RGB LEDs 6 cents each. The Cube was a project in its self.

How about a spinning stake to the heart every time you hit the coffin during multiball?

added some rubber rats from Hallowen.
Cost $4. Backlight is a clip light with a colored incandescent. $3.

Had this topper on my BSD. Just a plastic mold that I found around Halloween time. It had purple metal-flake paint.
