I am in the process of shopping a 2nd drac, and I noticed that when they are side by side the playfields are diff colors. One is greenish blue, the other dark blue.

Did they make two different playfield runs for this game ?

pic #1 and pic#2 are from two different machines

Hey,

I'm not a rocket surgeon, but did one or the other have cabinet fade? Just thinking at might affect the playfield colors...

Yes there were two different manufactures of the playfield.

Mine seems to match the blue on the plastics perfectly. Don't have any idea if they made 2 different colors.

#5 11 years ago

Probally suppose to be same color but when two different manufactures make the same thing they can end up slghtly different. One of the manufactures was Sun Process. The playfield will have an sp on it. The The SP was suppose to less prone to playfield planking too. Don't remember the other manufacture.

The other was Lenc Smith. It would have a LS on playfield

You see this most prominently with CFTBL with the hot pink versus crappy pale pink and also occasionally see a dark blue T2 versus the standard light blue.

#8 11 years ago

yes indeed the greenish one says SP and the blue one says LS

which is better ? The LS has some slight ghosting and the sp has absolutely none..

#9 11 years ago

SP is suppose to be better for planking issues. Do not know of any other issues between to. Someone else might, would be interested too.

#10 11 years ago

As pinij93 said, SP is less prone to planking. I have two LS playfields and don't see the ghosting you are talking about, but see slight planking on both. I guess "better" depends on what you want in color/graphics versus the planking issue.

Does anyone know how many SP playfields were built versus LP?

The only dark blue T2 playfields I've seen were in prototype games that were not diamond coated.

Ran into a dark blue Terminator a couple months ago on a service call. Believe it was serial #7 or 12 or something really early. Did not notice that it wasn't diamondplated. IIRC the pf was still in nice shape.
