Before I posted this I have looked through every long opto topic and have not been able to solve this one.

My long opto registers open with one small exception. It stays open when I break the beam except when I pull my hand back out of the beam it reads closed for a split second and then back to open.

I have:
-Replaced the 24 opto board with the Homepin board
-Replaced the optos.
-Adjusted/lifted the ball gates.
-Checked voltages at the opto board.
-Checked continuity of the white/red and green/grey
wires from the 24 opto connectors to the mpu
connectors.

The green led registers open and closed as it should on the opto board when you break the beam. Where should I check next? Thank you all!

Quoted from John_I:

I finally gave up on repairing mine and bought the replacement board from Australia. That thing worked great.

I should have noted that before.
Mine is the homepin aftermarket board.

Quoted from Spinape:

What does the diagnostic test animation show? A solid line or no line at all?

No line at all. The opto board detects the beam and it reads closed for less than a second then it reads open again immediately.

I have tried the phone and remote control trick. My phone camera captures a glow from the transmitter and the receiver closes for a second when I press a channel button with my remote.

The only thing I can think of so far is that maybe I have the wrong type of transmitter.

A - 14231 is what I put in it.

Upon revisiting my voltages I am getting some strange readings.
J2-1 is 4.28 volts
J2 1&2 read around 13 volts.
Can anyone confirm that these are off?

Update:
I have a working Mist multiball now. I replaced the caps /reflowed L1 on my original 24 opto board and now have a properly closing switch 82. Something is up with my new homepin board. To be continued...

Good news! Kinda.. odd that new board would give you grief

Agreed. I will follow up with Homepin and see what we can figure out. For the time being, it's awesome to have a fully functional BSD!
