I have a friend that wants to trade his Bram Strokers' Dracula for a Stargate. He's found someone that trade Stargate for BSD and add $250, He asked my opinion and i said NO WAY! I'd much rather have the BSD. What do you guys think?

Same here...

ditto no comparison

#5 12 years ago

I have had both pins and still have the Stargate so I guess that wins, I am quite weird though

#6 12 years ago

Stargate isn't bad. But I am a fan of bith., I dunno, that's a toughie, i think BSD is going up in value while SG is holding.

#7 12 years ago

I have a real nice Stargate and would do that deal in a heartbeat. BSD is #1 on my hit list right now

#8 12 years ago

I like Stargate more.

#9 12 years ago

Stargate is awesome. If he doesn't love the BSD and wants to shake it up, absolutely. Seems more than fair monetarily too.

#10 12 years ago

BSD....no comparison.....BSD.

#11 12 years ago

love SG, haven't had a chance to play BSD though...

Would depend on conditions of both, but BSD seems to be trending worth a couple of hundred more at least.

#12 12 years ago

Having owned both I would say they are probably equally fun to play. However, value wise I think the Williams games are worth more.

#13 12 years ago

Sure, BSD has been rising in price due to it's more recent popularity.
Add into the equation that Gottlieb's get a bad rap (mostly undeserved imo).
SG is a great game, and so is BSD.
I love SG and think it's a great game, and would love to own both one day.

FWIW, I would much rather have BSD. It's just too damn awesome.

#14 12 years ago

Condition would be the deciding factor.

#15 12 years ago

BSD is the flavor of the month at best. I own the game, and I love it, but it's a solid B, B- game. It's prices aren't rising, this place tends to put games on a pedestal sometimes.

Trade out a BSD for Stargate? NO WAY.

#16 12 years ago

Your friend would be GETTING or GIVING $250?

#17 12 years ago

Every time I play a BSD I want to tip it over and set it on fire...

Stargate's a great game, this is a fair trade IMO.

#18 12 years ago

BSD is a game i really want but I dont know if I would give up my Stargate for one even though it is probably worth more.

#19 12 years ago

if you look on boston pinball, stargate is more valuable than bsd. nevermind the small sample size.

#20 12 years ago

And if you look in the 2012 Mr. Pinball guide X-Files sells for $1,650

I don't know how many of you have had a chance to play Stargate, but these two games really couldn't be more different. Stargate has 3 Wizard modes and might just be the deepest 90s machine that was ever produced. Who knows how Gottlieb managed to nail the rules like they did for just that one machine, but they did.

On the flip side, BSD is a great game, but it is also one of the shallowest machines of the 90s. Personally, I love that about it -- it's SO straightforward -- but if you like rules, modes and stuff like that, you owe it to yourself to give Stargate a shot.

What are all the wizard modes? I can't remember?

The sandstorm multiball was the best IMO.

#23 12 years ago

Stargate is a C-list machine made by Got.

BSD is a well regarded B-list game made by B/W and highly suited for competitive play. It's only going to go up in value IMO.

Trading a BSD for a Stargate + $250 is not a trade I would make, but it's not unreasonable.

Trading a BSD + $250 for a Stargate is just crazy.

Wow...Although SG may be one of the "deepest games," it also seems to "play worse" than just about any game I've ever played; and I just played it last night.

Was it on route or at someone's house? The game has to be set up correctly and have strong flippers to play well.

#26 12 years ago

last night a home machine...but the flippers were not super strong, which surely didn't help.
But I played it many times brand new when it was released and had the same feeling. I think the entire left side of the PF is too cramped. This was probably the first Gottlieb I had ever played, so maybe they just have a different feel to them...which I never liked.
