I have had a segment out on a BTTF that I was getting ready to sell. I traced the problem back to this broken lead. Does anyone know if it's fixable? I could not get solder to stick to it as not enough of the metal seems to be exposed.

I would use a thin gauge wire to bridge it and solder to each exposed lug. Maybe this was attempted? Assume your cleaning the pins prior and using a high quality solder with resin core or similar....

Thanks for the tip. I guess that is kind of what I attempted. The lead broke flush with the glass though so I can't seem to solder to it (or clean it). Soldering to the lead itself is no problem.

You have to grind away some glass to expose a small amount of the lead to solder to. You need to use some flux when soldering.

Thanks! I'll grab some small files or my dremel this evening and see what I can do.

Dremel is the best for this.

Used the Dremel today and notched out a little section that I could solder too. Display works perfect now, thanks grumpy !
