I was unloading this game, picked up the backglass in my hands and exploded First time I've ever had vintage BG like this do this. My stomach dropped and I'm sick about it. Based on the rarity of this game, I'm assuming the chances are ZERO of finding another. If course this would have to happen on of a production run of 600.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. The Good news is the person I was delivering it to Doesn't seem to care what's back there as long as the stuff is covered up and it looks okay. So I have a few options:

1) Find another 6803 Backglass (Or translite if they exist) - Wouldn't really matter which one

2) Try to find another black Belt Glass (unlikely, but who knows)

3) Make a new translite out of something else - not sure what, but something on the back of plexi I would think.

4) Get a scan of the original and make a translite if possible

Any suggestions, help would be appreciated, along with a therapy session!

Let's see if I can return you from your current state of sadfacematthew to smileymatthew!

1. See if Mayfair Amusements has a used/nos copy. http://www.mayfairamusement.com/

2. BGresto can't make it a they don't have the artwork (See #6 below)

3. Post a Pinside wanted ad

4. Post in this forum. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/looking-for-backglass-and-translites-thread-buy-sell-trade

5. Try posting a WTB ad in these Facebook groups:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/669880966459893/

6. Look up other Pinsiders that have a Black Belt in their collection. Ask them if they have a high quality backglass and can take it to a shop to have a high quality scan taken, then email it to BGresto.

@forceflow What was that type of high quality industrial scanner that you talked about in a forum? I seem to remember that you said that there was a website to locate companies that have these scanners that they public can hire.

Are you sure they dont have it? He has thousands of backglass artwork saved and if he has that one it can be made without the original.

It was vid1900

Quoted from vid1900:

You need a real scanner.
Those HP scanners that everyone uses for playfields don't focus correctly on backglasses (because the ink is 1/4" back, behind the face of the glass).
Every big city has a Cruse scanner. Call around to large printer, art print, advertising print - someone will direct you where the Cruse lives.
They have charged me $100 to do a playfield, so it's not cheap.
You have to bring a really large memory stick (a fast one, not some crummy 10 year old one) to receive the scan.

So sorry for your luck OP.

I'm biased and YMMV but I think one can accurately re-create a BG with a hand held. It does take much more time, my Laser Ball took over 100 hrs of work but turned out ok for a translite. I no longer use the PS automate stitch for the multiple images required by using a hand held, it just makes too many guesses for my taste. On the LB, obviously the mirror effect was NOT reproduced... but again for perhaps an unobtanium BG, I still think the handhelds are a viable option. If one can get one to scan that is.
Good luck in your quest.
