After reading as much of Vid's Guides as I could, I decided to give it a shot. Shout out to Tomass for helping me find this one and FireballAK for selling it to me. I have been progressing very slow, but I think its time to start a post to give some momentum to the project. I am starting with the playfield. It has a lot of flaking/planking so I am going to have to clear it before I can do paint touch ups. Here are some before photos to get things kicked off.

Stripping the playfield turned out to be simple enough. Just need to remember where everything goes. Here are some better photos of the damage. Looks like I am going to have a lot of masking to do. all of the inserts are cupped so I will need to fill them as well as re-seat the triangle ones (they are lifted).

I pulled all the lifted inserts. The glue was very weak so I didn't break any. I didn't get any photos of the gluing process but after cleaning the holes with a dremel they fit flush with the surface. Next It was time to clean the surface as best I could. I used a magic eraser where I though it could take it, and sanded where the wood was stained as well as the shooter lane.

Now its time to lay down the clear. This is my first time using this stuff so mistakes were made. First I filled the inserts with a eye dropper. Then I made myself a spray booth and got busy. I put the first layer down too thick but I ended up sanding most of it off. There were pretty deep groves at the edges of the inserts, so I filled some with an eye dropper after spraying the first layer. Overall I think it turned out pretty good. Next step is masking.

Quoted from Tomass:

Knowing how Alaska summers go, this might not move till September. Lol

Yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve worked on it. Hoping to have a bit more time in a few weeks when my summer classes finish. Still stenciling the black. Looking back I probably should have left the black but it’s too late to go back now. Thanks for all the support.

Quoted from ss-pinball:

How is your project going?
I ordered inserts (jewel) and decided to go with the original starburst because the arrows are that design and they were originally that way, so I need to order some additional inserts and likely another few items before I get started in earnest. My boards will be back in a week or two. Totally rebuilt with NVRAM installed. I have some work to do on wire harnesses--two wires are cut and two pulled out--probably related to GI. I'll need to figure out why they were cut (I assume a short) and fix that...

I thought about putting new inserts in but just ended up reseating mine. Seemed to work but still need to flatten them a bit. Hopefully you can get your boards working, mine seem to work great but need a couple connectors reflowed or replaced. That’s coming up. Anyone know where if I can get a connector set or if I just have to piece it together.
