Does anyone have a recommendation for a very bright LED #555 bulb? I want to do a better job of lighting the inside of my ringmaster on a CV machine. I switched to the purple version of the RM, which I really like, but the darker color blocks out more light than the default green one. At the time of writing this, I've tested a #555 I purchased from autozone, and it's actually more dim than the incandescent. :/.

Is that a 12v bulb or 6.3v you wish?

#3 6 years ago

The Autozone bulb is probably 12 volt. What you need is probably 6.3

Likely...6.3V Best bulb (diffused over 300 degrees) to light ringmaster head, bulb in head, Op-Max from Comet.

Brightest Bulb as a Spot in 6.3v is 1 Watt magnum at Comet, also available at Cointaker.

These are very bright. Hence the product code... http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=2560

Ok, so I got the bulbs and they are awesome…for five minutes :/. I put one in, and started playing. It was working perfectly, then all of the sudden it was dim. So, I took the ringmaster apart and put another one in, worked great…five minutes of playing later, it is dim?

This makes zero sense to me. I feel like the incandescent bulb was doing the same thing. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Here is a picture with a purple light that I thought looked pretty cool.

Im guessing that it is a 12v Light, can you check the manual?

(First Question)

and with my apologies for my ego, trust me, you want an Op-max regardless....
I created this bulb for these purposes.

So the manual just lists the bulb, and the socket. I can try to get a meter on it in a little bit.

It also says "2" which is clearly untrue as the printed diagram of the ringmaster only shows one.

That's a 12volt bulb. Meant to be a flasher bulb

Nope, there aren't even two bulbs. This must be a misprint because later in the manual they illustrate the RM with only one bulb.

Bingo...that's why this never worked for me! Someone put a #555 in there, and it was burnt out after I received the machine. I've been changing it and trying to fix it over and over, just to realize I'm using the wrong damn bulb!

I put in an incandescent #906, and it has been working ever since. Now I need to find the brigtest #906 LED bulb .

Thanks for calling that out, I don't know why I didn't notice it.
