I have a chance to pick up a BOP for about 8 bills.
It needs a shop job, some major cleaning, has a little wear here and there on the playfield and a couple of minor mechanical issues.

I've never played the game but have looked at a few videos on youtube and such.
The light show looks very good but I'm wondering about game play and lastibility.

I'd appreciate comments on gameplay, lastibility and anything else concerning BOP.
I know the face sometimes has issues keeping it working but that's no real issue with me as I do all my own mechanical and electronic work.

Thanks

Of the three "Bot" games, I probably like BOP the least. It's still a pretty cool game, though. If it has a lot of playfield wear, $800 may be a bit high. What's the cabinet like?

#3 13 years ago

There is a little wear here and there nothing major like tons of bare wood showing etc.
the cabinet looks OK, a little wear here and there but nothing major. 8 bills seems fair, especially for prices here in the New England region.
I haven't seen it in person yet, only about a dozen pics.

$800 sounds like a no brainer. If you have the space, go for it. Pinside is showing the average at $1200.

Does BOP have a Diamond plated playfield? Anyone know? If so, then you can probably get the playfield shining like new with Treasure Cove's kit assuming it is not worn thru the coating.

All the reviews I have read say the artwork, lightshow and sounds are great, the playfield layout is ok but ruleset is pretty uninspiring. Which is why that group is doing the upgraded hardware/software kit.

Very few brides have the diamond plate, although I have seen some Mylar (dealer option) ones.

Not sure on why this game does not get love around here, it is awesome just how it is. Sure could it be better in some ways? Yes. However it is easily one of the most popular games in my arcade week in and week out. If I ever sold it I would have an uprising on my hands.

At $800 it is a steal, even with playfield wear.

A nice bride of pinbot is worth double.

I love bride of pinbot , a very fun game. I can see where it can kinda be repetetive for some people. It has a great lightshow and heartbeat sound when you complete the metamophasis. I just played a BOP about 2 months ago, and still enjoyed it. 800 seems like a fair deal.

Thanks for the opinions, please keep them coming.

SC you mention"Which is why that group is doing the upgraded hardware/software kit"

Can you give me some more info on this, where I can go to find out more??

maldoror, the customers like it that much? Good to know.

OK I found this link http://www.dutchpinball.com/

The biggest problem I had with mine was the head not turning the right way. Took forever to solve, as many things cause it. If the head turns the right way during gameplay, its an awesome game and that's a good price.

"Pinside is showing the average at $1200 ..."

Interesting. I may have been off the mark on my pricing. I didn't realize they go for that much. Of course, you sometimes have to take the Pinside prices with a grain of salt. If they ever complete that P-ROC project, BOP prices could take off. Probably not a bad idea to grab one while you can.

"Not sure on why this game does not get love around here, it is awesome just how it is ..."

It's not that I don't like it. I actually think BOP is a pretty neat game. I just happen to like Pin*Bot and Jack*Bot more. Pin*Bot is the game that made me fall in love with pinball, so I'm certainly a bit biased there. As far as Jack*Bot, I've never understood why people don't like it more. I happen to think it's one of the more underrated DMD games out there. Perhaps I can relate to the gambling theme more than others, being the degenerate I am.

Hello!

I love my BoP and hope to have it for a long time to come. And, even with owning one for awhile now, it is still a thrill to make it to Metamorphosis! Further, I have yet to make it to the Billionaire Club and may never! Lol! It is great, plus BoP has one of the best light shows in all of pinball, in my opinion.

All this being said, now that Dutch Pinball is working on a major upgrade to BoP (please see: http://www.dutchpinball.com/ ), including a DMD and wizard mode, I am even more excited! It keeps getting better.

Always...

Jack bot doesn't get love because it is almost identical to Pinbot. I like the gambling aspect, but for that new of a game, it sure feels like old technology. Personally, I think the best game to come out of the pinbot series is Dr Who. It is an updated game by the same designers with a much deeper ruleset. It borrows the same basic visor locking system, the mushroom buttons to start muliball, pop-bumpers on the right, and the ramp that goes around the top of the playfield.

Dr Who also is the game that really got me into modern pinball, so my opinion is a little biased.

Love it, mine is amazing

Yeah, I was addicted to Pinbot way back when. Pinbot, BK2000, High Speed, Goldwings and EATPM were all within a mile of my house as a kid. The Pinbot sounds and music are what I think of when I think of an arcade. Love it. Sometimes I turn on the Wii, set it to Pinbot and have the music playing in the background while I play in my pins. Ahh, the nostalgia.
I somewhat remember playing BOP a few times but all I remember was having to shoot the ramp over and over and didn't like that.
Never played Jackbot.
I like Dr. Who the best. It is on my wishlist.

I love mine and play it as much as my TZ. I do have it stripped down right now because the mylar was bubbled. I have owned it for two years and have never had one problem. My playfield definitely is not diamond plate and it shows some. If head works and plastics are good 800 is good price.....but I would offer 700 if it were me.

I wouldn't hestitate a bit for 8 bills!

BOP is my favorite of the trilogy... Played the helluva of a Pinbot when it first hit the arcades back then. And when I saw there was going to be a sequel from a flyer, my mouth was drooling! My buddy was a Op and bought one brand new... A lot of people make the case that it's a "one shot" game, but it didn't bother me!!!

Sorry folks! I thought Jackbot was a dud! Pinbot with a dmd with a Casino theme? Thought it definitley wasn't good closure for the *bot* series!!

Question for you guys.....What was worse? Hurricane or Jackbot for "closure" of a series?
