Ok so the install was pretty rough but it’s done and it looks. Awesome. I will send some photos to cliff about the shooter lane but there may not be many options due to the design.

#103 6 years ago

Does anyone know what type mirror blades fit Breakshot? Do 90s WMS blades fit, or not?

#104 6 years ago

Cliff has been making scoop protectors for this game. I asked him about a shooter lane protector and currently he doesn’t have one designed. He’s using an unpopulated playfield so he needs pics of a populated one. No promises on a shooter lane protector.

#105 6 years ago

Ok so Cliff is going to make a shooter lane eject protector modeled off of pinball magic. Couple of weeks I’m guessing. So hopefully we can start ordering kits in the new year.

Thanks

#109 6 years ago

I ordered these, Airborne protectors, and a Phantom of the Opera Magic Mirror a while back. I am waiting patiently (not really), but hope to have them soon!

Yup, you have to remove most of the plastics around that area, most of the posts, then remove the entire assembly below. Have fun! Lol. Looks amazing though. I posted pics a few back.

Cliffy set installed today. Outstanding fit and they look great.

So for those that have installed the cliffy's around the center locks do you notice more bounce outs? The tear down for the center cliffy doesn't scare me; I'm just concerned that it changes how the machine plays.

Quoted from ChrisS:

No change for me. I would imagine if the holes were "wollered out" prior to installation, then you might notice that it is more difficult to land into them with the Cliffys.

#115 6 years ago

BIG thanks to Patrick and John for the help test fitting this set. The biggest thanks goes to my best friend Steve Charland (rip) who loaned me his playfield so many years ago. I'm only sorry I didn't make these before he left us

#116 6 years ago

What is the lead time on these? I am super excited to get mine.

#117 6 years ago

Aren't protectors on this game fixing an issue that does not really exist? Has anyone actually seen a breakshot with wear at the holes? They look fine, but just seem unnecessary on this game.

#118 6 years ago
Quoted from Marvin:

I actually had to patch my 8-ball hole with epoxy before I installed the Cliffy because of side wear. Also, the shooter lane was showing some wear as well. The center pockets were not too bad, but I figure they would eventually wear over time. I don't think this games wears as bad as a lot of other games (and it sure doesn't seem to dimple either), but you can't say it doesn't wear or won't wear at these areas in the future.

The lead time on mine was about 3 or 4 days.

I can understand the possibility on the 8 ball hole, but yours is the only one I've ever heard of with issues. As for the center pockets the only hard shot they can take is straight on because of the lock design. It won't wear from that and those ejects are soft. Like I said they look fine just on this game seem so unnecessary. Think about it the 8 ball is hit less than the center pockets, the center pockets didn't wear.

If you think they aren't necessary, then you're doing the right thing by not buying them. What can I tell you?

Quoted from IN_Pins:

Did you get your reboot problems resolved? What did it take?

New update on this.

Background: The previous owner replaced the large 15000uf filter caps, and still had reset issues. Very intermittent

Heres what I did:

-I tested the BR's and the filter caps, all tested fine
-I replaced the C96 capacitor (you should test yours, this could be the root cause)
- I replaced the LT1084 voltage regulator - still did not fix, and cause more problems

Resolution/Workaround:

- I ended up removing the LT1084 and R408 and R409 resistors, and installing a 5v linear power supply with a molex connector on J3 on the driver board. Power supply plugs into the service box in the cabinet. I keep the cabinet on switch engaged and turn on/off the machine with a power bar.

The game has absolutely no resets now and plays great. I know there are people that frown upon these fixes but replacement boards are very hard to come by and Clive from coin op cauldron mentioned servicing these boards can cost alot! Also, spare parts australia has quite a few boards that are returned and likely not working.

If you don't want to do what I did - I would suggest sending your board to Clive and just eat the cost

Would someone be so kind as to post a picture of the Jackpot Flasher light socket and wires going to it, it's the only thing not working on this new to me fun pin.
I'd appreciate it, Bob.

#126 6 years ago

This was my most played machine this weekend at Louisville Expo. Really dig the simplicity, and it's super fun to play. Hell the 3rd flipper wasn't even working and I still kept coming back.
Anyone looking to sell?

This is the light socket under the red Jackpot insert that I need to know how the wires are attached. Thanks

My orange wires are attached, my blue wires are not. Guess it's not a flasher. My bad.

Breakshotters! I'm looking for a post SM00144-01. Anyone know where I can find one or of an equivalent post from other games? I've looked around with no luck.

Breakshot is the game I always THINK of selling but then I go play it again and I remember why it isn't going anywhere. I love mine and Capcom certainly knew how to make a playfield hold up.

#138 6 years ago

Hey guys....real close to joining this club. Dumb question...paint or decals? Just looked a5 Marcos inventory for this title; everything looks pretty available...great news.
The machine I'm looking at has some wear at the 8 ball outhole and players condition cab.
Just wondering for future reference.
Can't wait to get this one! Such a nice break from the 6.66 million rules on ACDC!

#139 6 years ago

Never really looked close, but from pics I'm getting I'm 95% sure this cab is painted. Anybody ever do a repaint on this?
Ah who am I kiddin I'll just throw it in the middle and play it.

Ha. That was a question I had. No Cliffy for this (yet). Which sucks when I'm looking at this:
IMG_25141 (resized).jpgIMG_25141 (resized).jpg
Not too worried, I can fill that in and stop further wear (I hope).
What I am wondering: are any parts for this one unobtanium? Looks like optos are sold out everywhere.

#142 6 years ago

Some more pics. Since I'm not familiar with this machine, anybody see anything that I should be aware of? I've already committed to a price, and I don't plan on changing that. Overpaying by a few hunge, but still getting (what I consider) good deal.

You have to Email cliffy and order them.

#145 6 years ago

Game looks like it's in nice shape other than that kickout. Call or email Cliffy, he makes the Breakshot protectors. I just got some from him.

I removed the mylar on our Breakshot with great success. Ours was pretty filthy to srart with.

You can replace the capcom optos with Bally / Williams ones. I have done that for Breakshot, Airborne, and Pinball Magic. If you need the opto boards, that could be a different story.

It's a great game, you'll find yourself addicted and when you think of selling/trading you'll second guess yourself a lot.

Make sure both super cue gates can be actuated open by the solenoid. The wireforms that open those are often broken. Check the large brackets that hold the slingshot coils. They're often bent or broken at the 90 degree bend in the bottom. Is that switch error for an opto?

#148 6 years ago
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

Did you add anything in its place or just leave it at the factory clear underneath?

#149 6 years ago

It’s a great game, great for the price. I always enjoy playing it in my collection. Just make sure that everything works mechanically 100% parts are harder to find now. Also ask about game resets, apparently it’s pretty common , stems from issues with the large caps that handle the 5v logic supply.

#150 6 years ago

Just joined the club. Really fun, unique game.
