Stern, 2009Thought you guys might want to see what Cliffy's LOTR protectors look like plated in brass to match the game.

Curious, as this looks really nice, but is it really a brass finish, or a brass color. im wondering if there would be any tarnishing over time
Mike Chestnut [email protected] has been doing fabulous plating work for years and uses real brass which is then polished and then clearcoated with urethane clear.
Thanks for the great pics, Manic! The brass really puts that final polish on LOTR.

Since it was done by Mike Chestnut, and he specializes in plating. My guess would be it is actually brass.

Get the protectors from your fave distrib or me and then send to Mike in Tennessee for plating.
I may send a few sets to Mike and keep plated ones stocked here. I did this with Addams Family sets in polished brass and still have 2 or 3 sets here for Addams. Full on polished brass on the ramp and playfield set. Man they are gorgeous.
Hey cliffy if you get some brass sets done up for lotr I will buy a set. Consider it a done deal. Just lmk how much and when. Txs!

Mike was real reasonable about it. Less than I expected. I hesitate to post the price I paid as things may change or he may even be able to do it cheaper.
To the other post about him not responding... I'd try again. He gets a load of requests (not just from pinball people) and can get swamped.

Yeah I think so... I kinda miss the color changing led I had behind the original but this one is larger, actual glass and looks pretty classy. The eye effect is decent and pretty clever.

Any of you guys that had this done have feedback after 3 years? I want to do, and was wondering if the brass plating held up over the years. Need to get my lock down bar redone and might as well go all out.
