Weird problem with my BSD.. Switch 17 comes up with error. But when I go into switch edge test mode and test it by pushing the switch with my finger it works properly on the DMD screen.

During gameplay it kicks out another ball into the shooter lane so there's two balls.

#3574 3 years ago
Quoted from dmbjunky:

Is switch 17 a trough switch?

No it's the switch in the shooter lane.

Quoted from terryb:

You'll lose your high scores, but I would try a factory reset.

Just tried it and it didn't work.. Weird maybe I'll just order a new switch and install it.

#3594 3 years ago

Fixed my problem with error on switch 17. Weird thing is one of the trough switches were sticking which caused a ball to kick out.

Almost done with my BSD shop job but I am struggling in getting the ball lock to work correctly. Trying to adjust height is tricky it’s either to high or to low. What’s the trick with ball locks?

#5399 1 year ago

Talking about the castle lock, yes I have it centered. It seems like the lock just goes up and down to quickly to release the balls in that area. The ball was getting stuck or trapped by the lock. I tried to angle the ramp some by adding a washer or two in the middle of the ramp but now the ball moves to fast and runs over the lock. Very tricky to adjust.

Experimenting with my castle/houses. Have any of you guys painted it? I don’t like the way it looks.

looking at a BSD and the cabinet art doesn't come the whole way to the edge of the corners. you guys have any information on why there's a difference sometimes? the guy doesn't think it was redecaled, btw.

Got any pictures?

#5615 1 year ago

That cabinet looks normal to me too..

#5623 1 year ago
Quoted from weaverj:

i guess not all decal sets are made the same. some are a little smaller showing a bit of the black cabinet underneath at the corners and edges. pretty sure that would bug me though. the hunt continues...

I mean it almost looks like the cabinet is splitting a little, but it doesn't look too bad. Got to remember this game is a 90's game so it's getting old.

#5624 1 year ago
Quoted from shock_me:

You may or may not know, (if you've never re-decaled a cabinet), that most advice would be to trim back the decals at the edges about 1/8" with an x-acto knife and a straight edge so that you won't catch any exposed decal edges and peel off the decal. After doing so you can either "paint" in the edge with a sharpie pen of the same color, or, like most would do, finish and paint the edges of the cabinet before decal application so that when the edges of the decals are trimmed it looks clean. I suppose some people might trim off a bit too much and leave an obvious edge exposure.

Yeah that's what I've done in the past too when redecaling cabinets.

Decal corners don't seem to be that big of a deal now do they...lol Holy Moly is right...

Quoted from ZMeny:

Just got my BSD back from Schmitty’s shop and couldn’t be happier. Plays like a new B/W. Only a couple more things to add.
- Topside teardown
- New ramps
- New posts, inlanes, and pops (changed to blue theme)
- New plastics
- New silicone (transparent)
- New flippers and rebuild
- New legs and levelers
- Full Comet LEDs
- Drac mod
- Plastic protectors
- Topside metal tumbled
- Bottomside cleanup
- Original cab refurb
- Original playfield (sp), no wear, buffed and waxed[quoted image][quoted image]

Looks nice, whats the Drac mod? and those slingshot plastics look cool too...

Quoted from weaverj:

leave as is. i wouldn't buy a BSD that's been sharpie'd.

How about painted with acrylic paints? Like mine that’s not for sale..

Quoted from Spitfiren8:

Any solution you find acceptable is good. For the best paint results its an easy frisket mask and airbrush/rattlecan job to avoid brushstrokes or markerlines. My completely white side has kinda grown on me over the years...

Yeah my niece is an artist so I’ve had her work on a few machines and she does some excellent work I must say.

#5738 1 year ago
Quoted from weaverj:

i didn't like acrylic when i tried it because of the felt difference to touch. i'd recommend sealing it somehow. best is airbrush, like what was mentioned before.

Yeah I plan on sealing it. It actually feels pretty smooth my niece used a fine brush..

Can anyone tell me where this goes?
[quoted image]

That might be that piece underneath the coffin area. I’ll check mine later.. I shopped mine out and forgot to put it back.
