Hi all, just about to join the BSD club after picking up a very ropey project machine. I am guessing they are unobtanium, but in the U.K. and by proxy Europe, it seems that the insert set isn't available, I need a full playfield restore on mine and have a guy that will do the work, but needs inserts :/ - any advice appreciated.

#5593 5 years ago

Thanks - been in contact with them, a new playfield will be more than I paid for the machine though :/ - still this one is pretty shot to pieces, so may be the way to go.

Hi all,
I picked up a massive project BSD and after looking into a playfield, which I will probably end up getting I though, you know what, what is the worst I can do... I mean probably terribly, but I am going to go for, the first thing I need is some 1 to 1 scans of the two large inserts but also if possible the ones on the cross and above the flippers and the DRACULA ones too, I AM going to give this a go, a best friend of mine is a graphic designer and said he will get them down to printouts I need. Hey - why the heck not, this is what pinball is about.

Appreciated if you can help.

Cheers,
James

Indeed, but it can be fixed - it is just the inserts and with good scans can be recreated with imaging software easily, just need those scans as I cannot work from this.

I have a SS and a TWD both minty, but I came into this game with no money and certainly not a lot to spend, will it ever be a HEP, hell no. I could blow £1,000 on a play field, or I could learn to do it at £300 and end up with a players, that would be well loved and a damn fine machine. My point is I want to try because this is my hobby, not my living and I get the satisfaction out of saying, hell yea!!! That was me.... So, in that vein, yes, there has been little appetite to help thus far, anything is a pro, please, send something my way.

It is amazing what a small amount of love will do...

I didn't want mine to come across negative either - sorry about that.

Is this thread the best place to ask for scans though, or is there a better place on the forum that will get more hits?

#5673 5 years ago

Hi all,

I have now got play field scans and my friend who is a graphic designer is currently sizing them and "tracing" the inserts too. Anyone who needs them let me know - will have all but V I D E O done as I didn't get these on the scan.

Cheers,
James

Think they came out OK to be honest... Obviously the original artwork is all scaled - I had to pay a designer to do this in the end but still... not too shabby as it is all scaled correcetly.

So the dry run whilst the tear down is ongoing, my designer put these together and sized them all up for me, note the skin tone, he has... probably best to quote him actually, I have no idea...

Hoped it was a simple brightness fix but needed saturation too which bought out a load of artifacts - so had to tidy that up...

Ordered everything ready to try this out

Thanks sir, don't want to hijack this as a shop log really, but if OK will periodically update if that is ok - playfield as of tonight.

Love the cabinet artwork on this game - every time I see it I am like YUMMM!

Shame it always fades to hell

I will jump on that too if possible aobrien5 I will PM you my email address - for those who were wondering how the junk playfield I got on the project one I picked up came along... not terrible but not A1 (it was never going to be) - but it'll play now

Has anyone ever had issues with the ball lunging around when hitting the castle shot, should come down into the lock but at it's speed it can jump over and onto the playfield. Any known solutions?

#6043 5 years ago

Thanks Pinrookie - will give it a go if I can find some high density foam tape in the house...

#6047 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinballerchef:

I also had the same issue so I used some extra washers stacked to raise the wireworm to slow the ball down as it comes off the ramp and diverter.

Sorry - being a bit silly here, I have washers for days and I too have no HD foam handy. Where did you stack these, lock end?
