I recently joined the club, pictures forthcoming... Great pin!

Does anyone have art available; full art package or possibly even just the two for the backbox? My cabinet is in excellent shape art-wise with no fade but the backbox could possibly use a bit of a refresh. The alternate art package does look neat...

Also looking for the apron stickers or maybe just hi-res scans (600dpi if I had my choice and I can do something myself as I am painting all of the armor anyway.

Would prefer to purchase from Canada or US, overseas looks to be quite pricey.

Let me know if you have anything.

Thanks.

#3664 7 years ago

Pulled the trigger on the full 5-piece art plus the inside blades, I don't have much patience apparently. With the full re-work of the armour, colour to be determined, it will look sweet!

Does anyone have, or can take hi-res scans of the apron stickers?

Let me know, thanks!

Hey all, been a member for awhile but the pin was torn apart for most of this time. Bought BSD from a friend had a minty PF and full LED. I played it for a few weeks, loving it and knew that I needed to rip it apart and shine up the rest of it! I guess that I can't say 'bring it back to life'...

No disrespect to those who have gone with straight red but it just didn't do it for me. After spending a month or so looking around I found what I think is a great fit (no it's not the same as WOZ RR75th) and then decided to take the trek...

I've compiled a series of pictures to provide a sense of the tear down and rebuild. It's quite difficult to have the camera capture what you actually see so that could explain why the other red works for some. Have a look and see what you think.

https://1drv.ms/f/s!An-v_bkyKrvlhjwVYJ8zr14R7now (pics only link should be ok from what I see in the rules, if not I will immediately remove)

I almost forgot, after having installed a pinsound in my IJ, I decided to keep the RED display on BSD (I love the original display but may fall for the colorDMD if I see it in person) and spend the money instead on a pinsound for it. I am 80+ hours into a resampling of audio from the movie and it's worth every minute. The game is over the top!

Quoted from Colsond3:

I went with a custom but more "standard" red myself only because it seemed to pop and was more true to the colors on the cabinet.

Thanks! You are right regarding the cab art red, I spent a ton of time thinking about that specifically. The choice was easier after ordering some artwork. The red is actually deeper on the art that I ordered and really fits.

I had the same struggle with the blade art that bought. The online pics show a kind of purple that doesn't appear to match yet once installed I have been very pleased with them.

Quoted from Pinballerchef:

Don't tell the speakers you stole there panels to make a GIANT key fob

Haha! I was actually looking for something larger at one point...

#4552 6 years ago

Those are sick! (Great job modfather) I have a small CNC and will have to come up with something as well, It would be nice to have a laser CNC...

I do have translucent red buttons on it now but will plan to LED them soon, thanks for the reminder.

#4555 6 years ago
Quoted from PjM:

Only thing I see you need is new ramps with new decals that are not wrinkled! That is one amazing BSD! Absolutely gorgeous.

Thank you! I have a NOS main ramp but those decals are bubbled as well. Looks like I'll have to look into that though.

#4557 6 years ago
Quoted from Cserold:

Wow. What did you use on the cab to give it that shine?

Lots and lots of prep work and then just applied a black automotive acrylic enamel. Everything else is automotive base coat and clear.

Took a stab at a sculpt of the tri-head. Only my second sculpt attempt, this was way harder than I thought. It's not perfect by any means but I'm tired of fussing with it any longer

When I restored my BSD, I stripped the apron and had it painted to match the metallic blood red that we did the rest of the hardware in. I always envisioned the Tri-head in the center of the apron, so I didn't put a sticker back in it's place. The trouble was, I couldn't find the Tri-head. This will do the trick!

First resin cast to clean out the mold and find out where air gets trapped, creating bubbles. This stuff cures crazy hard! The tiny teeth filled with air so I would have to fill these first, when pouring or recreate whatever won't cast, before painting.

This was the hope, to fill this void on the apron. I have to sand the back down to take off the excess plastic as this sits a bit high (tip of nose touching glass and moved the tri-head up towards the chrome bar.

Getting there slowly...

Looks awesome!

Thanks! I'm trying

#6688 4 years ago
Quoted from KJS:

Great work!. I was going to do the same thing with this metal one I bought and backlight it red.
Did you powder coat ramps as well?
[quoted image]

Well that would have saved me a crap load of time haha! Oh well, I guess that I have more detail so I'm pleased with that but I Iike the metal. My next decision is how to finish these. I also thought about lighting and can drill out where/if needed.

This isn't powder coat but rather an automotive, primer, base and clear. I think that I shared some pics long ago but maybe not. Everything metal on the cabinet, including the coin door and bolt heads are all the same, along with a pair of pingulps. I prepped and my GF's brother did the painting.

The full art package was from a place overseas, UV ink printed. I ordered their art blades as well.

#6689 4 years ago
Quoted from pipes:

I just put them on my game recently and I'm very happy with them. The art matches perfectly with the playfield and flows nicely with the art on the backboard. The quality is good - very durable. I can post some pics on my game later tonight if you like.

Agreed! Same here, on mine and very happy with them.

#6696 4 years ago
Quoted from mollyspub:

Ever consider mounting this under the start button?

Absolutely! Once I figure out what colour to best paint these, they could go anywhere

#6703 4 years ago

I completely sized this for the center of the apron (no sticker on mine after re-paint) but I suppose that there are a few ideas for additional placement and the scale seems to work! The red silhouette of the head under the start button is not centered so that doesn't really work but just showing a pic of it.

Heading out to see if I can find a proper quick set sculpt material that can be used to add a few small teeth as mine won't cast from the mold, they are too tiny to cast. Bummer but not critical.

#6705 4 years ago

@Medisinyl, I've tried it once but I will try again or keep trying whenever I pour for this one. I've picked up some air-dry sculpt-it to see if I can do something on this one for now. I'll need something as a backup when the cast is missing them.

I've also thought of trimming out one of the cast models and trying to sculpt two partials (like dentures) then mold/cast those haha!

#6717 4 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

See a few pages ago. Quite a few of us picked up this one.[quoted image]

I like it! What is the material and quality like? I'd love to have it the same shiny plastic as the original.

#6730 4 years ago

hAbO very cool to see these out there, I just couldn't find anything. That one is a bit larger than where I sculpted for but it should absolutely work under the Start, Launch or front of coin door. Thanks for sharing!

Haven't played mine in a while, played this weekend and started having issues with the mist ball lock it seems. At some point it was letting balls out and reloading but the eventually would not load one in its place. I believe that there were 3 balls in play. This happened for a while. I reset the game and it worked for some time but it came back. Maybe an opto(s) issue?

#6761 4 years ago
Quoted from 27dnast:

Reset connectors on the opto board?

Quoted from wugly:

for an intermittent fault I would first look to the optics being dirty then I would think about the connections being loose or coroded.

Quoted from 27dnast:

Also, it could just be the board going flaky. Mine took a mysterious (hard to identify) dump on me and it took a long time to diagnose.

Thanks guys. I will have to look under the hood and re-acquaint myself with the mech and checking the optos and wiring.

I recall seeing a replacement board at some point. Don't recall if it was identical or a redesign.
