Picked up a dirty, but 'nice' BSD last week. I haven't had time to mess with it much, but I saw like 8 switch errors and they are all optos. I've seen opto boards available, does the whole thing usually go out? The mist bar moves from side to side when you turn it on. I'll dig into it soon.

Those are great! I might totally steal that idea when mine is up and running.

The optos work in switch test, but still show up in the... other switch test. In switch edges, they work, but not in whatever T.2 is called. Here's a photo of my grid in T.2. Which side is the castle? It talks about castle optos, maybe I'm missing those. And are there optos in the coffin? I don't see any...

Also, the magnet seems to work, but when the ball gets the middle of the playfield, the area where the plastic 'rails' are under the playfield, the ball falls off. What do those plastic slide rails do? I'm guessing they make the ball wobbly since the distance to the actual magnet is decreased? Maybe the magnet isn't strong enough to hold it during that stretch? Anyway to make the magnet stronger or test the strength there? I haven't stuck a voltmeter on it or anything. And I saw the replacement opto board has some sort of opto that you can see under the playfield from the coin door, but I don't see any optos on the magnet currently under the playfield, just the one that senses if the ball is on the magnet above the playfield.

Thanks for the advice on this one. I didn't expect it to have so much going on!

Quoted from MrSanRamon:

Do you have a owners manual?
If not PM me your email address.
Robert

I downloaded a manual from ipdb. I'll start digging. I only played it twice, and the last time was over two years ago, so a big downside for me is that I don't know how things are supposed to work... when they are working! Thanks for the advice and help though, I'll start digging through it soon.
