Just found I have a pair of yellow Williams bats, so I'll install those and see what I think about the difference from lightning flippers. But I don't want to keep them on because some French guy said so. I want to have fun playing my pin.
Actually I had new white Williams flippers and installed them with red superbands and it looks sharp. Haven't played a game yet. But will be a good comparison since I put around 75 games, maybe more since I "worked from home" a few days.
So will report back what I think of the difference. Funny thing is, I hit over 900m in one of the first games I played when getting it home. Maybe went over 300m-350m a few times since.
Yeah. So I've played 6 games with the normal flippers and they are staying. To me, all the shots now felt natural and I was able to get great flow going without having to try and compensate for shorter flippers. The game just flows with regular bats and makes the game really fun for me.
Doesn't look original to me. I should know because I was having problems with my left gate not opening up enough when Mist started on the left. Gate wasn't opening high enough. But could accept the ball when fed from the right gate. The ball would make it partly out the left gate and then fall.
Original gate appears to have a hole for securing the spring from the coil bracket. So I used thin solid copper wire and looped it through the small hole in the coil bracket where the spring would secure to, and then looped around the hooked gate left side. So far so good, but I haven't been able to find the original in stock yet.
I just ordered the gate because I also had to order a Maverick ramp, No Fear upper flipper bushing, Maverick decals and a few other things.
Got the gate from Marco the other day and might have time to install it tonight. But I have my left gate working well now using a thin copper wire attached to the gate instead of the spring. So might just wait to replace the gate when I get my next parts order and add a few spotlights.
Wife agrees that normal flippers are way more fun to play on BSD. She kicked my ass on a few games last night because normal flippers doesn't mean you still can't have fast ball times. Just means you can have more fun with fast ball times. I'd rather she have fun playing a game with me then not wanting to play it.
I think the villages look great painted, but can you really even notice it when playing? I think the graveyard is a definite upgrade, heck even adding a spotlight on it is an upgrade. But the village and castle not so much, except if painting the village roofs, then that would look great when playing.
Quoted from PinballHelp:I don't know if this has been covered before, but has anybody else run into an issue with BSD playing music during attract mode when it's set to not do so? A weird odd tune that keep repeating over and over -- very annoying. I think this may be a software bug but I can't find more than the L-1 ROM revision. Anyone know anything about this? If the game is left on for awhile it'll start repeating this odd musical phrase forever...
Yup, I've noticed the same tune playing continuously on mine sometimes after playing. I kind of like it though.
I have LEDs in mine and I don't have ghosting issues. Previous owner installed them though, so I don't know which kind they are.
Selling my BSD - $3000.
Terrific playfield, no insert issues or planking, wear or anything like that. New left Mist gate and spring installed. Game works 100%, fast and smooth as butter.
Cabinet is in solid condition, fade on the Dracula letters on each side. All LEDs, fully shopped (subways too), blood flipper covers, red Superbands, custom instruction cards and now has some red Titan rings on the slings and some posts.
Will take proper pics and post later, but these are the pics I had in Google Photos. Sale only, no trades right now.
Quoted from PjM:Black or red?
Black IMO. Red accents are nice on this game, but I think it's too blingy for that theme.
