Pricey but it's a nice effect, where did you get them?
I can appreciate incandescents and actually prefer them for some older games, but LED's are hard to beat for more modern titles, in my opinion.

Cointaker Ultra brite in purple.

...I dread removing the ramps towards the rear but that area needs it...

BSD is horrible for cleaning - especially the graveyard screwed onto the ramp, blocking the screw that holds the ramp to the post! A total catch-22 situation.

Quoted from Bohm:

I was swapping out the playfield set pieces for the ones my wife painted last night, so it was a good chance to clean things up, and man this game is a super p.i.t.a. to get to anything. I basically got nowhere just trying to clean the area under the castle. I dread removing the ramps towards the rear but that area needs it the worst, not to mention a lot of the rubbers need replacing so might as well take care of that too. Worst part is I managed to lose about 3 screws that I dropped on top of the playfield and they rolled.... somewhere. I looked everywhere for them but they're just gone. It bugs the hell out of me when that happens.

Sigh…

And all I wanted to do was swap these out:

So, is there any easier way to get under the graveyard? I want to add some lights under that area, but I don’t want to tear 1/3 of the playfield off to get there!

#9957 1 year ago

Just been playing a good hour on my original before I go to town on it soon for a mad gothic resto.....man what a game. So arse kicking good.

No, the big ramp has to come off which means several other ramps and pieces have to come off. It's a big project but it's not difficult if that makes any sense. While everything is out it's an ideal time to clean and wax because you can't get to these areas otherwise, same thing with replacing rubber.

Does anyone know the part number of the f-f hex post that supports the habitrail coming from the coffin ramp? Or, at least it's height?

Ddstoys or check a few pages back, we just went through all the sizes with pics etc etc

I’ve had my BSD for a couple of years and it’s always had the magnet unload error. it seems to work fine though. Anybody know why I would still get the error?

Lots of info in this thread on that topic. Common error on this game.

Hello guys. Since some time I'm having issues with the floating ball. I got a new 24 opto, and the issue was still there. Today I was able to kind of isolate it. On switch edges I find out that the both left and right magnet switches and the long beam are getting interference from the optos 71, 72 and 73. Even with left and right and opto 24 disconnected the interference is there. Once I disconnect opto 71 (physically open the opto connector) it stops interfering with 1 of the mechanical switches, same for 72 and 73.
What you think its happening? The opto 10 switch looks ok, and all other switches are working ok.

Here a video of rhe issue. BSD is in switch edge and I'm not doing anything.

I think you need to replace both sides of the opto pairs 71-73. Sounds like they are getting flaky.

Hello. I think that's something else.

When I connect one of the 3 optos, being 71, 72 and 73, it brings one of the magnet switches, left, right or beam. Here I connected the castle opto and brought the left magnet switch. When I cut the castle opto, also acts on the magnet left switch.

Here the video:

Those are in the same column so it could be a miswired switch (mystery hole) or perhaps an issue on the 10-opto board. It might also be miswiring on the castle lock opto boards; I think someone else in here had that issue.

#9969 1 year ago

Here was one issue that turned out to be an intermittent broken wire:

I am not saying this is exactly like your issue, but it appears to be similar.

I did more testing, and when I cut the beam, it also opens the switch on its side on the edge testing, and that switch works ok, as far as I
Keep the opto beam interrupted. Once the beam is restablished, it also activates the switch on its side, on the edge test, and that switch shows closed.

Hello. Thanks for sharing the link, but my issue is different. If I disconnect optos 71, 72 and 73, the mist ball works perfectly. The issue is that optos 71, 72 and 73 are each one interfering with the adjacent switch (on edge test) that are long beam, left and right.

I fixed identical issue two weeks ago with new opto boards from pinball life

Hello. Finally the issue was really the opto 10. At some point in the past the 100uf cap leaked and blow, so somebody installed a new one under the board. I checked all connections several times, and even got a new cap installed, but the crazy stuff was still going. At one point I decided to reflux weld on everything, and in the process I touched R39, that is a 100ohm resistor that feeds vcc to U3, LM339 that is the one that feeds j4, j5 and j6, that are the 71, 72 and 73 optos. When I touched R39, it got separated of its leg, so due to the corrosion caused by the cap leak, the resistor was barely touching the leg, what was causing all the issue. 0.5 cents later on anl new resistor and all is working like new again .

I put a new 10 opto board but still had the issue until I done the 71 72 73 opto boards ???

I replaced every LED and opto receiver when rebuilding my BSD. I'm talking about just the transmitter and receiver parts. A cheap way to eliminate potential issues.

#9977 1 year ago

I finally got rid of my magnet unload error. It took a factory reset and I no longer get the error. Time to put up some new high scores.

Is the manual incorrect on the transistor number, wire color and connector for the left and right gates? Are Q5 and Q7 swapped in the manual?

The left mist gate is on J902-1 Q7 and the right mist gate is j902-4 Q7 orange-violet????

I got my hands on a decent BSD. And as you can see it was the very common 'White Letter Version' .

My friend has acces to a very good printer and he is willing to print a set af cabinet/backbox decals for me. Now my question is, whether one of you in here has a high resolution set of files for that?

Thanks in advance

Thomas

I wanted to look into this for my BSD as well, I didn't quite catch the paint type though, and if its mixed with any thinner etc (seems liek they are usign straight from bottle), seems like they are clear coating afterwards as well (via spray can)...I'd need to research more what they used...
and I also I didn't catch the exact colour.

Thanks for vid.

I used stained-glass paint for the faded lettering on my machine:

At the beginning of the video the guy says he is using airbrush paint.

Yeah I go what it is, it is Createx Transparent airbrush paint, not sure on the colour but should be Brite Red.
Doesn't seem like he's mixing it with anything either. but may be doing two coats in some spots....and then perhaps adding a clear coating on the whole cabinet via spray can.

Only on the prototype could you stack all three MBs for 29.5 million. The math was perplexing, so they changed it to 30m.
