Glad I could help Robert, I can't take all the credit, I got the idea from another pinsider, there is detailed info earlier in this mammoth thread of possible solutions. Chris.

so I'm going to be doing a shop job in the near future any consensus on which rubber to use - black or white? Is there a big difference? Pretty sure it shipped with black?

#753 6 years ago

White was the original color... at least according to marco.

#754 6 years ago

Looks like white on the flyer too. I always like white on my games, but BSD was the one game I prefer in black...I also have black flipper bats with red rubber...perfect match

#755 6 years ago

I'm not a huge mod person, but like the Uncle Fester mod for TAF, the ugly vamp mod by Iamdarras is a must have for BSD. As soon as I get my game back together I'll post photos.

#756 6 years ago

I read somewhere it was originally black and ipdb shows black. Is one more springy?

#757 6 years ago

White normally bounce alot better, so the game is more lively. Red flipper rubber usually bounces better than black as well, so I almost always use those for my flips..

#758 6 years ago

ah, well, Drac could use a little less bounce sometimes, so maybe black would be better.

#759 6 years ago

Black works great on mine, the game is hard enough

#760 6 years ago

The game shipped and was designed to have white rubber. Red flipper bats (full sized) with black flipper rubbers.

#761 6 years ago

Played this game for the first time on Friday, found a perfect example on Sunday for sale. Now it's mine! All mine!
Thanks Skywalker for showing me the dark side. Can't wait to get it delivered and start playing.

Is that coffin mod available anywhere?

#762 6 years ago

If you mean the ugly vamp contact iamdarras. He's got a post in the last five pages or so with links.

#765 6 years ago

I'm selling mine in case anyone is interested. I'm in Pittsburgh.

2 things. Finally got to 30 Millions today for the first time!! Was cruising along and then... I tilted out of it.

Actual question. On some screens I appear to have a credit dot, and others I don't. I know my top left drop switch is sketchy, but that usually causes a full-on dot with a Test Report. I do not get a Test Report right now. I'm pretty sure it was always clean before.

Hi Gentlemen:

A buyer is coming tomorrow to see my machine, and wouldn't you know it, it looks like two of the wires came off of the coin door switch! In the pics you can (hopefully) see the loose ones.

Could I possibly appeal to one of you fine people to point out where I need to solder them back? I looked at the wiring diagram and damned if I can understand it!

What confuses me are the little nubs on each button - 3 on each side, 6 nubs per button.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks to Skywalker for all the help in me obtaining my machine.
Hope my little girls don't react to mine like yours did! I won't be showing them the movie for a few years yet - just ordered it off ebay today.

#773 6 years ago

and got the scarey mod for the coffin too! I still think the orginal vampire does look a little "70s porn star"

Why should we help you leave the club?

I don't know anything about the wiring myself, but here's a pic of my working switches.
BSD switches.jpg
Just looks like each hot wire goes to the lower left post (depending on your view). You have 2 wires and 2 free lower left posts, I say wire them up and (in theory*) the worst you can do is swap the 2 switches. Trying to change your volume will tell you if you need to swap them back. Do that test before soldering of course.

Good luck with your sale.

Proud owner reporting here. My left slingshot has never worked though, it had the associated tip 102 taken out by the previous owner (an arcade operator) and whenever I've put one in, the coil locks on as soon as it's tripped. Any ideas how I can finally get her fixed? Thanks.

could be your EOS switch

#780 6 years ago

Think that's ok, but I'll double check. Be great if it was something so simple!

have you tested for switch faults? good to rule that out before anything else. I'd also replace the 2n5401 pre driver for the tip 102.

test the resistance on the coil itself- if it's got hot because it was locked on for a period of time it can burn the insulation on the coil windings and lower the resistance, effectively shorting it which in turn will blow the transistors

if all that's ok then probably time to replace the 74ls374 logic chip on the power driver board - can't remember which one it is for the left sling (U1 - U5) I'm afraid but you should be able to trace it

i love my dracula bought for 1150 back in 2000 great buy. only issue it resets somtimes, other than that it bad ass. i have the greatest vampire hunter score of 1 billion and some change, dont ask how she did it but my wife crushed it, with 3 billion. I will never touch that score. Bummer

#783 6 years ago

Your reset issues- Have you tried to reseat the ribbon cables to all the boards?
Also, could be the bridge rectifiers are old, or your outlet (fridge, a/c on the same line ??)

#784 6 years ago

Just wanted to pop in to say I was able to work a trade and join the club today. Look forward to trying out some of awesome lighting techniques I've been seeing in this thread.

#785 6 years ago

just got these to sit on top of the machine from Amazon. Have to experiment with some red strip lighting.51BRB6ZQ4WL.jpg

#786 6 years ago

Cool, please post pics when you have them installed. I keep seeing these on eBay and thought about it but wasn't sure how they'd look.

#787 6 years ago

Proud new owner of one of these only issues im having are with the coffin lock, a lot of the time you hit the ball in there it bricks out and comes flying back. also the lfit ramp sometimes lifts up and down over and over again before actually staying up. anyone had either of these issues?? i may post a single thread seeking help but apart from those things shes playing great!

Playing around with this mod in mine. Will add a spotlight to him that activates when the ramp is hit.

#794 6 years ago

also will change the pop covers out so that the Winona character is on the front one instead of the one that he is attatched to ...

#795 6 years ago

another angle....hard to tell but he is just the upper torso of the toy screwed to the pop cap with the existing screw in the existing hole...works quite well and have him placed so he is reaching out towards you while playing..IMG_4226[1].JPG

Mine doesn't have the Winona pop cover. I imagine that's one of those impossible plastics to find? Anyone have one to spare?

Of the four BSDs i've had, three of them only had the one pop bumper cover. Looks incomplete and odd leaving the other two bare. Actually better off leaving all three without covers imo

#798 6 years ago

Well, I'm leaning towards getting a STID Premium and need to make room, so I've started to clean the machine & touch up the cabinet on my BSD.

I've had it for a long time, probably 7 or 8 years and it's difficult to let it go, but I think now is the time; all I need to see is a few pics and perhaps play a few games on the premium to decide.

So I need someone post some pics of a ST Premium and invite me over to play it, and I'm guessing the BSD will be soon out the door.

Thanks.

Robert

will be a sad day when BSD leaves after having him around for so long, I'm considering letting mine go also, Very tough decision has to be made

I believe all they came with is a single pop cover.
