Quoted from Jackalwere:

I bought my Dracula about 2 years ago, mostly for theme. It is the least played game of all the pins in my collection, both by myself and friends and family. I can't count the number of times the ball has gone SDTM or drained down the side without a single flip because of random bounces out of the pop bumpers and slings. I see people walk away in frustration and they don't come back to it.
The game is growing on me, especially after adding Pinsound, Hazzard's mix is incredible. But I can't figure out how to get the casual players to stay interested in it when cheap drains continue to happen.

You won't. BSD is not friendly for a family setting or with casual players.

My kids love BSD. They rock it stacking modes and bonuses. 9 years old

Quoted from Jodannar:

Found a new issue . Some mounts somewhere under the right castle lock are not correct. Anyone have a map of post lengths under the right ramp return?

the hex posts underneath the sculpture are wrong or not there, nothing wrong with the ball return guide. hell you could add spacers for a quick fix to the support posts under it to get the clearance. sorry, i do not know the lengths of them.

If set up correctly it isn't that bad. It is still a hard game that will kick your ass though.

#6455 4 years ago

Does anyone have the art blades installed. If so can I get a pic.

#6456 4 years ago
Quoted from Jackalwere:

Do you have to have a special mounting bracket for those Pyle speakers, or will they fit on the DMD panel as is?

I think I used quarter-inch spacers on the left and right speaker, for the clearance for the tweeter but also because I have speaker lights.

Hey guys, does anyone know who makes clear coffin ramp or maybe knows how to remake them?

[quoted image]

The ramp referred to in this post from many moons ago. Where to source? Thanks.

EDIT: I just found this but would still need the blue metal riveted on, definitely don’t have the tool for that.

Put a new replacement Homepin Opto board last night to address the severely "tampered" board my new machine had. Success. Game is now registering and is playable, mind you with flippers needing a rebuild. Also corrected the incorrect posts on the houses and castle so that the lock shot is now not blocked by the plastic.

My left ramp opto doesn't register, and I will correct, but is it what is used to trigger the function of the diverter to the castle lock? If i continually hit the left ramp, I can register the castle lock, but the diverter doesn't engage. The diverter works under test.

Reposting this as I've changed out the LED colors. Stunning !

Keep your eyes peeled as someone else has been working on another design! Nice to finally have some good choices instead of the original.

Am I the only one that actually likes the original translite?

#6463 4 years ago
Quoted from pipes:

Am I the only one that actually likes the original translite?

While I thought it looked a bit off or cheesy when I first got into the hobby, it grew on me after owning the game and watching the film, and I prefer it over the alternates I've seen thus far. Looking forward to what CPR does with a mirrored version.

My thoughts exactly!

BTW, I just installed your castle ruins mod and it looks awesome!

Yes! people have always complained about it Whatever works for you is all that matters

Quoted from TechnicalSteam:

I like where the Coffin Mod above with casket was going. I'd just make some kind of Stone platform to go under i to replace the atrocious original plastic.

Yes I'm working on improving the base the casket sits on. I'm trying to find a 3D rock sheet they use in model trains to wrap it. I like the idea of it looking like real rock.

Should I buy BSD as my first pin back into collecting?

#6468 4 years ago
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

Should I buy BSD as my first pin back into collecting?

If it's one you like and think will play well in your home environment (IE: your family will be into it), then sure.

If it's not one you like and don't think will play well in your home environment, then probably not.

In my experience, there's nothing especially hard about maintaining BSD over any other WPC Williams game, if that's what you're asking.

I have discovered, though, that my friends who aren't into pinball find it very frustrating. It's not an easy game.

#6469 4 years ago
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

Good question. I just got one for the second time . I liked the game the first time around ,but it went out the door in my desire to get the latest “box with shiny lights”. This time it will be much harder to get out the pin cave.
First point: this is not a family friendly pin. A lot of people get rid of because of having kids. If that is not an issue then my simple answer is yes get it!
It is the simple game to understand and super difficult to master. It has one of the best callouts in pinball (Thirty Million). Great integration with the movie and only gets better with pinsound and Hazzards’ audio. It has one of the better video modes. It is a fast points based game versus a mode stop and go game so a complementary mode based game would not be a bad second choice. Good luck and welcome back to the hobby.

I like your trans light. Only point for me is Dracula’s placement on the original is pretty important as a back box flasher behind him flashes as he talks. I think that is pretty cool and if I replaced would want him positioned in a similar spot so as to not loose that feature

I’ve posted this before, but disagree with that modus of thinking. I could understand that some kids might not like it, but it’s my daughters game of choice. And she’s only 5, about to turn 6. And plenty of kids play it when they come over for parties, etc.

Now Freddy on the other hand is not a family friendly pin. BSD might as well be a Pokémon game compared to that one.

I’ve fixed the posts under the sculpts. Inlane ramp posts still aren’t completely threaded. I think the tear down guide ya a note for the Sling post lengths

I have a 3 and a 5 year old and they love and play it almost every night. Ps where did you get that Bally vampire? I have been looking for one of those for 10 years.

I completely agree. There's nothing especially graphic in the artwork or the callouts (well, I suppose Anthony Hopkins does talk about cutting off someone's head, and Winona's sigh is kind of suggestive). Everyone's family is different, but there's certainly nothing on this game that I worry about.

I've heard lots of people say that BSD is the go-to game for their elementary school-age daughters. Enough that it strikes me as being statistically significant.

PS; That pic of your daughter with the vampire teeth is priceless! Nice work, Dad!

She wanted a picture with all three vampire games and the teeth. It was funny. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I sold the Stern Dracula.

Do the Pyle speakers have a noticeable improvement in the audio over the stock speakers, even without pinsound?

Quoted from sunnRAT:

I’m curious how they stack up to the pinsound speakers as well. I plan on getting the pinsound board eventually but not sure if I should get some decent car speakers or just go with the full pinsound kit.

#6483 4 years ago
Quoted from sunnRAT:

Do the Pyle speakers have a noticeable improvement in the audio over the stock speakers, even without pinsound?

I’m sure they do. The original speakers were absolute crap.

Although I upgraded mine along with the Pinsound board in BSD, I’ve also put the same exact speakers in other WPC games and several others, and the sound quality is definitely an improvement.

Are there better quality speakers out there other than the ones I use? Sure.

Do you need to spend $400 on speakers? I don’t think so.

There’s actually an option to turn off Wynona’s sigh in the settings somewhere- family friendly mode or something.

Ran a Comet Matrix to mine. Tombstone mod painted by Modfather[quoted image][quoted image]

Just received my matrix lights from comet. Looks Amazing! had to hot glue red lights in coffin mod as surface was too rough for the lights to stick to. and put a strip of green lights under coffin above the coffin ramp. I couldn't be happier. thanks for the tip.
