Quoted from ArcadeVideo:I've thought about trying this - do you have a picture you can post, showing how it looks?
Was just playing his BSD last week. LED strips on the left ramp look great...definitely adding on mine. Makes the ramp and lightning bolt pop.
As we all know, LED's do not photograph well. In person, the lines and definition of the bolt's blue, yellow and black outlining look real clean and better than I expected. I still may experiment with dimmers, but it's certainly not needed.
Here's some photos where I messed with the lighting and contrast to show the definition you see with your own two eyes.
I forgot to grab a shot of the actual placement of the two strips and how I hide the wires, but I'll try to snap one the next time I peel up the left ramp.
For now, I found an old shopping photo I took and added the two red strips to show general placement. You want to make sure the first one down by the ramp entrance isn't too close to the plastic as the ramp declines toward the entrance. And the second one goes from roughly the top of the rear 555 bulb socket and up onto the purple plastic that sits above the rear scoop. You want to position the rear light to follow the turning trail of the lightning bolt. This is somewhat shown in the second pic.
Thanks for the post, davebart5! Has anyone tried or seen an LED underlight attempt on the entirety of the ramp, finishing behind the castle model?

So your BSD has nice original reds and a hole drilled in the middle of the playfield??

I like that powder coat!
dfrieghtner how about a picture of the whole playfield so we can see how that powder coat meshes with the whole playfield? Looks awesome in the pics you posted.
Quoted from aobrien5:So your BSD has nice original reds and a hole drilled in the middle of the playfield??
Not a game ender now that mirco has the playfields reproduced.
Pain in the butt for sure, but thankfully, not the equivalency of a railroad spike hammered into a tree.
Speakers upgraded. 2.1 Pinsound in stereo is stellar. Old cab speaker was totally shot and crumbling.
When I first uploaded the audio files, it wouldn’t revert back to the original sound when toggling the volume down on the coin door. If anybody else had this issue, I think the file I downloaded from the Pinsound site a few weeks ago was corrupted somehow.
I downloaded the original file again, then put just that file on and let the board unzip, load and format the USB. Then cleared the USB, went back and added just the 2.0 mix as a single file, and jacked the USB back in. It reformatted, and both files were in the audio folder and could be alternated.

Diverter question if someone doesn’t mind checking their game. When you run the coil test on the ramp diverter, does it go down and pop right back up?
I just replaced my coil and sleeve, and mine appears to be sticking down at times. Running the test, it’s not popping back up.
Mine does at startup I kno, not sure during coil test but I believe it would. Mine likes to rub on ramp sometimes slowing it down.
Quoted from Phat_Jay:Mine does at startup I kno, not sure during coil test but I believe it would. Mine likes to rub on ramp sometimes slowing it down.
Yeah, I adjusted mine before from rubbing on the ramp. I know that they can get caught up on the rubber all the way at the bottom if it’s not zigzag’d around the posts.
Trying to remove the main ramp and it won't come off. Seems to be attached under the graveyard? I see in shop out photos there is a large post underneath the ramp. Possible a previous owner screwed the ramp to it underneath the graveyard??

I just tested mine - the diverter pops back up immediately after it goes down.

I just removed mine and it wasn't anything unusual. All the screws are visible. Don't forget the coffin wireform and diverter has to come off first.

OK I'm thinking someone screwed the ramp to the post underneath the graveyard...ugh. I'll try to remove the graveyard & see what is going on.
I guess the ramp is supposed to just rest on that tall post?

I'll look when I get home. Unfortunately you need to remove the ramp first to remove the graveyard.
We are talking about the left ramp, correct?
Edit: I'm looking at a photo now and you need to remove the wireform on the left and castle wireform first, not the coffin wireform. There's a star post attached to the backpanel that needs to come off. All the other screws are pretty obvious, just keep taking them out until it gets loose. There's also 3 connectors under the playfield to be aware of. I don't see how someone could attach it to a post that's not visible. It might just be stuck to the playfield?

Yeah I see the post you're talking about. My ramp was just resting on it. I can't imagine how someone would get to it with the graveyard in the way. Maybe they removed the backpanel? There's no reason to screw it down there.

No reason but seems someone did it anyway! I removed the under-playfield nut on that post. Can I just tap it out now from the bottom?

Yeah that's what I would do
I'm wanting to print up the custom coin inserts that are the three gargoyle heads. Anyone do this before and have any suggestions on getting the best look. Is there a specific size I should print these at and is there a certain paper that works better than others to illuminate the art? I don't mind putting a FedEx order in if necessary.
Thanks!

I just printed them out on regular printer paper and they look great.

Awesome, and for sizing, did you have to tweak anything on that front? The image I have looks large, but maybe it'll print appropriately.

I dont recall, so I must not have had to do much.

Quoted from RobZ:Hi, can anyone recommend some decent rubbers for BSD? I've had these on for less than a year and hardly played the game that much. Just noticed tonight they're both split already. They weren't cheap either.
What kind are they? Look like generic white. I would recommend Titan or Superbands.
Thanks, I've got superbands on the flippers. Didn't know they did them for the whole machine. Will have a look around then. Never had this problem before. Weird that the both went at the same time in the same place, I'm sure they weren't like that last week.
There was a thread earlier this week about rings - an interesting read. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/new-product-competition-silicone-rings?tq=&tu=Crash
Thanks, I'll have a proper read through that tomorrow. Not that bothered about price (within reason), just don't want to be replacing them every 12 months. Had a search but can't find superbands full kits anywhere. Anybody got a link?
Officially in the club!!! Thank you to cheshirefilms for an easy transaction....Making it my own.... beautiful/evil game....Intimidating feel...if it wasn't next to my AlienLE (just to left, out of this pic)....Anxious to explore this classic!!!...mark
In regards to Hazzard's 2.0 mix, does anyone notice that the "10/20/30 million" jackpot call outs are not present during Castle multi-ball? I believe they're there for coffin and mist, but not castle.
If that's the case, it would be great to add it back as it's an awesome part of any of the MB's, but perhaps it's strategically not there, but I can't understand why that would be.

10/20/30M is only during Mist.
Technically, Mist makes each shot worth 10M, the stacking multiplies it.
Finally officially joined the club! I bought this game back in mid-August, and after spending some time with my local repair guru for a thorough shop-out, then another few weeks in my van while a major addition to my house was getting finished up, he finally made it into the game room. It was never going to be Collector Quality, but I was hoping for the best player's game I could get. I think it turned out just beautifully. The extra lighting makes the playfield a lot more visible, but still keeps a nice, sinister look, I think.
I've got a couple of mods in store, and I'm seriously considering adding a color DMD.

Congrats on joining the club...game looks great. Likin the spots, I’ve been debating on adding a few to mine, but not sure I wanted to brighten it up too much.
Any source for quality cabinet decals? There used to be some for sale on eBay but they don't appear to be up any more. Ministry of Pinball has them but very expensive.

Awesome, then mine is spot on haha and now that makes sense with Mist being the provider of the 10M+ jackpots. I'll notice that now every time. Thanks aobrien5!

ColorDMD is a must for this one (imho).....now that I'm getting comfortable w the game, I'm a bit surprised how people bust on the PF artwork. This is a dark game, and makes a great transition from red to blue, w purple, green accents. Hand drawn art fits very well. Diggin' this thing the more I play....
(I put spots on many of my games, as it brings out the colors on the PF as it was designed, unlike led strips. I have overhead dimming, so probably won't pursue on this title, but yours look great!!!)....

Yeah, I think you're right on the color DMD. I keep trying to convince myself that the all-red is the right look for the DMD, but I think I'm losing the battle. Thanks on the spots! I had actually asked my repair guy to take them off, but either he forgot, or the "Use your best judgment" request won out in the end. In any case, I'm really happy with how they turned out. My game room lighting is strictly color-changing LED for game nights, so a dark playfield really gets lost. I tend to brighten my games as much as possible, while avoiding the cool white and purple traps.
This game was definitely a "purchase of opportunity". I wasn't really looking for one, but it popped up in the right place at the right time, and I couldn't be happier. I stacked all three multiballs for the first time last night, and the "THIR-TEE MILLION" call was as satisfying an experience as I have had in pinball.
