Quoted from TDEX:

ok! I cleaned the switch with isopropyl alcohol it doesn't seem to be sticking, however I noticed a thin strip of metal that just dangles loosely. looks like a leaf switch. if I shake the table a little it causes the drop target to malfunction. my question is
is that strip of metal supposed to be so loose?

Something may be broken or loose. Take a nice high resolution photo of the dangling metal piece and post it in this thread and I am certain that you will get the help that you desire from this group.

No, it’s not supposed to be that loose. The switch might be broken. The middle leaf is the control leaf, and should be much more rigid. If there are screws through the leaf spacers, you should be able to tighten those. If it’s a rivet, it might be busted.

I would start a separate repair thread though, you will get more people chiming in that way and won’t use up real estate here. Just post the link here so we know where it’s at.

And like Gord said, when you start a separate thread, post pictures in there.

It looks like there have been a few coffin mods produced off and on over the last few years. From what I have been able to gather, it appears that we are in the middle of an "off" period.

Am I mistaken? Are any of the folks that have produced them in the past getting ready for another run?

To me, Ron Jeremy really breaks the mood of an otherwise creepy playfield, the sooner I can replace him the better.

Thanks!

I dont know of any currently available unless you happen to find someone who doesnt want theirs anymore.

Ok thanks guys. it looks like the switch might not be adjusted correctly. there is a screw at the bottom of the switch assembly that appears to adjust how far the reset assembly moves. I love this game but I may soon be sharing a cell with renfield.

Thanks! Pinball collecting is one thing but a $500 mod is another I'll probably get one sometime down the road.

ColorDMD is a mod worth its investment. You'll get 75% back of your price if you ever sell as people nearly always pin $300-$350 onto their asking price, and people pay it happily because it looks the part and enhances the game.

$500??? Why so much? For me, LCD version w/shipping is about $419, and the LED w/shipping is $385. How are you getting hit for $500??

I'm pretty sure you need a new speaker panel with a clear window, since the red doesn't come from a gel overlay, but is dyed into the plastic. That's about a hundred bucks, plus the 400 or so for the actual color DMD panel.

That's my understanding anyway. It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong, and I'd actually be quite happy to hear that I'm off-base on this one.

LOL - you're right. I totally forgot, and I've done that install at least 2 times. Yeesh. I scare me sometimes.

I reckon around 120-140 aus shipped. depending on postal service and time options etc. So about 90-100USD I guess.
Shoot me a pm if you want one. I need to get qty 5 for that pricing from my guy.
I've also done a custom Getaway and T2 chrome edition one and working on Theatre of magic design now.

Hi Guys

I have 4 people wanting one so will order the 5 today. There is 1 left for anyone else.
cheers from oz

I'll trade the last speaker panel for a tombstone cover mod if anyone is interested?

The oranges and reds in the original are just way too much. For me, anyways. Not to mention the bizarro photoshopped old man Dracula.

As the cabinet is mostly blue and black, the grays work much better to tie the pin together in my opinion.

#5576 5 years ago

Just added a Cointaker LED strip to uniform the Dracula lighting in the backbox. The lighting is fairly uniform now. See before/after comparison.

I actually like that alt translite which I never seem to...I like the grays and red lit up nicely like that. Kudos cheshirefilms

Just picked up a cheap re-import BSD project that's in surprisingly good shape, but needs a major shop job and a few issues fixed. Also I'll do a few upgrades, what do people think are the must-dos? It has the original yellow zipper flippers, I'll probably replace those with red Williams flippers when I rebuild the flippers. Definitely doing color DMD, do people prefer LED or LCD for this game? Thanks!

Blood red flippers, prototype plastics for the slings. The rest is preference but you can take bsd very deep..

Joined the club a few weeks ago, stellar game very glad I was able to find one in nice condition.
A few things I did was under the moon on the playfield blue LED gives a great effect. Moon in back board also blue LED instead of green, looks like a real moon.
Removed prototype slings and picture plastics on pop bumpers added light over top of graveyard. Went with cool white LEDs near flippers, blue at top of game and red pops and under castle.
Incandescent bulbs on Dracs tombstone.

You must be the first person to remove the prototype slings !
See your BSD came with the tombstone mod which is a plus!

Playfield looks good, but don’t you think that’s a bit too much red in the backbox? The red is drowning out the translite artwork. Just my take.

#5584 5 years ago

Boy, you make this too easy. Too much red huh?

Quoted from neverahighscore:

Red like the color your ass is going to be when I eventually make my way over to your house and obliterate the high score on your game. I’m going to enter “RED” as my initials.

yeah I need to work on the backbox lighting it is a bit to red, I usually take out most of the lights because I find them to be too bright.

People say this game isn't for kids...blah blah. My 5 year-old daughter must've played 15 games in a row last night. I couldn't get her off the damn game. It's awesome that when she has a choice and I tell her she can turn one on...she goes to Drac.

That buzz is normal. You can try cleaning/tightening it but I wouldn't expect much difference.

Hi all, just about to join the BSD club after picking up a very ropey project machine. I am guessing they are unobtanium, but in the U.K. and by proxy Europe, it seems that the insert set isn't available, I need a full playfield restore on mine and have a guy that will do the work, but needs inserts :/ - any advice appreciated.

#5592 5 years ago

Repro playfields are available. Mirco.

#5593 5 years ago

Thanks - been in contact with them, a new playfield will be more than I paid for the machine though :/ - still this one is pretty shot to pieces, so may be the way to go.

Any tips for changing out to the blood red flippers? I got a set since I've only played with the lightning so far and wanted to try them out. Tough to get in there to even loosen the hex key. So many components and wiring in that area. Is there some kind of trick or is that you have to remove the entire flipper assembly? I'm kinda new to pinball so never worked on flippers before.

You can do it, just gotta find the right angle. Moving the flipper with your hand will give you different angles.

Decided to reuse the frame elsewhere and just sell the art. Asking only $100 shipped now within the US. #6/50 and signed by Vance Kelly

I finally dug the prototype sling plastics out of the coinbox. For you ballers that have them installed, did you use hex extenders?

Did you remove the original plastics and just use the protos alone? Or use both?

There's a parts list in this thread somewhere. You leave the existing plastics.

#5600 5 years ago

i think i used 3/4" spacers, but it was a little tight on the left side around the wireform ramp return. 1" would probably be perfect.
