Is a 12697-3 driver board compatable with BSD?
Hello guys, I would need to print waterslide decals for the "love never dies", 2x and 3x insert decals.
Someone already did this job?
If you could share the files or at least scan those parts of the playfield you would help me a lot!!
Thank you very much!
if you already know you're bringing it home, what's the point of checking anything? price negotiable or something?
Yeah price its negotiable, $2.500, any weakness on this machine? Its working but need to reconstruc flippers, new rubbers, balls etc. Its been on storage many years!!
Gustavo
boards: battery acid, burnt GI connectors, hacks. playfield: shooter lane, insert wear, planking (including right orbit where the ball drops off the shooter lane, rat and mystery holes. cabinet fade; translite. fire all the coils and flashers in test. replacing resistors and transistors sucks.
Hi everyone I have not been on pinside for a long time but just got a BSD on Sunday and love it. Not sure if I need to ask a mod to become a part of this owners section (no idea how it works) Anyway my only problem right now is my ball launch is somewhat inconsistent. I'd say it'll rattle up the lane and short plunge or not hit the drop target and just go through a top lane maybe 3 out of 10 or 15 launches. Any advice?

You just joined the club. Congrats!
Do you have the clear square plastic above the shooter lane right in front of the ramp? If you do, is it pointing toward you? It should be.

I do not. I am assuming it would be right past the metal ramp at the beginning of the plastic ramp with the screws on either side... nope nothing there. I saw a wire kind of hanging barely in the lane under the castle lock ball hold/release and seems to have helped. 1 weird plunge out of about 20 or so. Thanks!
I have noticed something also strange, instead of saying "REPLAY AT 299,000,000" on the DMD while in playing a game (typically between ball 2 and 3) it says "BALL 2 299,000,000" is that supposed to say that? I figured it would say "replay at"
can I change that?

Here you go, get a new one. The other clear plastic prevents rejects from the right ramp, so make sure you have that one too.

Never noticed that one. It doesn't really seem like something you could make a setting to change. Pics?

my ball is not jumping up at all when I launch it so for now I do not think i need that shooter lane plastic and I have the coffin ramp plastic already on there.
Hi guys,
So the restoration begins, playfield in good shape, its a SP. All boards running and no corrosion from the AA batteries, just an strange issue with the sound, its extremely loud, volume control seems not working, one backbox speaker not original and sound board looks fine!! Any ideas?

And more finds, long bean 24" opto board is dead, +13V is there and led is off, I've re soldered all points but nothing, caps seems fine though. Help here......
Quoted from Haggy38:So there's no repair on this one?
Gustavo
Much more reliable just to replace the board. Homepin's is solid.
Quoted from Haggy38:Damn it! Usd$90, should I order new optos as well, Tx and Rx?
Gudtavo

The optos usually won't be required.
Thanks, any idea why the sound it's extremely loud? Can't turned down with the coin door buttons, is a volume potentiometer somewhere else?

There is a volume override for minimum volume setting - somewhere in the menu.
Quoted from Haggy38:So there's no repair on this one?
Sure, it can be repaired if you want to go through the effort. I would start another thread if you want to go through troubleshooting the board since it may take a few posts. Post the link here or PM me if you start a new thread.
The only thing worth trying is have a close look at the choke on the board. It has very fine wires that break off. You can scrape back some of the coating and attach a new wire if you find a broken wire.
Also replace the electro cap on the board. They can leak and cause issues.
If those things don't fix it I'm afraid there is little else can be done as the main IC is simply not available and the rest of the parts don't give any trouble.
Thanks guys for your feedback, so I ordered a new one to avoid future failures. I found the volume override on the menu, but is not lineal and the left speaker(original) is dead, the right one is 4ohms but unknown W, the cabinet one(original) is working, any options? I already ordered parts for $300, plus opto board $100...... empty pockets now. Anyone here got the original ones in good shape? Willing to pay for them....

Is this wiring ok??? On schematics shows J505 pin 2(black-yellow) and J504 pin 3(black)
I am relatively new to working on Pins but I have some knowledge... I just played a game and when the ball goes into the mystery/mist MB it will sometimes kick out into the right inlane as it should, or sometimes it takes an extra 4 or five seconds or it will have to do a ball search. What should I be looking at or checking? Thanks in advance. It will register mist MB and mystery just fine and I can hear the ball get all the way into the VUK and that is where it sits or launches up depending.
SOLVED: I think I did at least. I took out the opto for the VUK and gave it a cleaning and then tested it with the game on while they were out of the VUK. They were working every test and then put them back it and seems to be working fine now. Glad it was so easy...for now.
Well guys,
Great news, a fellow member here contact me and its going to send me the original speakers, I really appreciate this gesture. I live in Bogota, so you guys understand how difficult and expensive is to restore these machines.
I really love this place, will post more photos of this beautiful project.... Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning
Regards,
Gustavo
Quoted from PhillyBilly:So my first coffin lock just started staying half lit or dim, but it’s on all the time. It fully lights when lock one is triggers. Amy ideas to fix? Change out for non ghosting bulb maybe? All my lamp fuses are fine.
Yeah, it's ghosting.

I presume you don't have non-ghosting bulbs? If so you really should change them all out to non-ghosting. The bulb that is coming on all the time is not necessarily the bulb causing the ghosting. Plus I would suspect you have more ghosting than you realize.
So the project is looking really good, what do you think guys.....
One question I would like to use a couple of LEDs of n the playfield, blues(sling shots) and purples on the sides, the rest the original lamps, I really like the warm yellow as been designed. What type of leds do you suggest and where can I get them? I guess to replace some 555, 44 and 89 flashers. Thanks

I have been using a lot of Blue, Purple, and limited green and red and 2 amber to the right of video inserts. Also lit up the grave yard with a 4 inch green LED strip. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND comet pinball. The product is great along with the service and fast shipping. Heck They'll probably ship your order today if you order soon. I am about to put an order in myself.

You're on your way! Next, get those flippers cleaned and post rubbers changed!

Thanks, theres lots of different ones, any one in specific ? Thanks

Quoted from Haggy38:What a beautiful view, an undamaged, unrepaired CPU Board with original ROMs ........
Wow that looks so nice!
Quoted from Haggy38:I guess 12v green led strip?
Looks like glow in the dark or UV paint.

EH, I kind of ordered a hodge podge and tested different ones until I liked what I had. Non Ghosting in your coffin lock sockets, and purple passions are really nice.

Well this mode is from here, it's just a 12v green led strip...
Quoted from PhillyBilly:I kind of did something from similar but I put a 4inch green LED strip from comet above the graveyard.
Wow that looks good too!

Im usually one for color led's but try some clear white's down near the slings & flips. Pretty dark game and you might want some extra light down there.. you will know once you get it back together what YOU want there..personal pref. I wish my playfield was in the condition of yours!!

Thanks, this pin was left in a corner for years at Harley bike bar in Medellin, I was very lucky that no one messes with her. I'm trying to save money to buy his companion..., a T2 in regular shape but restorable..... I hope.
i don't like regular blue LED's; washes out the artwork too much. comet ice blues are a must. i'd stay away from orange, too; same reason. stick with purple for the top 2/3's of the playfield. reds under the top lane guides, pops and coffin locks. natural white flashers and under inserts. sunlight white in the backbox.
miss my BSD, if you can't tell.
