Hi all,

I have recently done a cabinet restoration and as a result completely dissasembled the cabinet and back box to restore and re-decal the machine.

The issue I have is upon start up the machine blows F104.

If I unplug J107 the fuse does not blow. This is responsible for Solenoids 9 - 16. I have checked in the backbox and under the playfield but everytime I think I've found the problem (bare exposed wire, diode leg exposed, loose wire). The issue persists.

Initially I thought it was a LED mod I had in the slingshot star posts where a wire had come loose this didn't resolve the issue though.

I had it working for a while thinking I had resolved it but after lowering the backbox to install the side rails the issue came back. When troubleshooting this issue should I just be tracing the wires (Purple/Green, Purple/Orange, Purple/Yellow and Red/White). Or should I be looking everywhere.

I'm wondering if the wires being too taught did something...

As stated initially if the solenoids aren't connected (J107 removed) the fuse doesn't blow.

I'm running low on 3a Slo-Blows so I've purchased a resetable fuse and I'm just waiting on it to arrive to do some more troubleshooting.

Any tips on isolating this issue and resolving it would be greatly appreciated.

For context I have rottendog Driver board and CPU boards.

Any other information you think that would help, please ask.

Kind Regards,

Scott

Additionally. I ran through the solenoids looking at the resistance of each one and they all seem to fall within their expected values.

Hi all resolved it!

So the solenoid left slingshot coil was to blame for the short.

It may have been orientation or the coil itself. As I replaced the coil AND changed its orientation to reduce risk of shorting.

Thanks all for the replies and advice.
