I bought a Auto Bell Mermaid for 200,-. It is in working condition but needs a lot of work on the cosmetics. The backglass is broken, so I will try to make a new glass for it. The cabinet is repainted and I can't find a picture of how it supposed to look it anywhere. If there is anybody out there that has a any kind of picture of it in original condition please let me know.. I want to bring this one back to its former glory. Thank you.

Crappy repaints are usually easy to remove without damaging the original paint underneath too bad, so if you can't find a photo there's probably enough under there to create new stencils and get colours.

Even if you have to sand the overpaint off you should be able to discover the original finishes. Just go slowly.

On a side note, for sanding the repaint off. What grit Do you guys suggest?

You had me so worked up, I nearly soiled me armor! I thought you got a Gottlieb "Mermaid" for $200!

And I was so ready to watch the debates go on about how since the repro playfields are all gone, it's basically worthless.

That is so true. The only machine with a value of $0, or $20,000....no in between!

Was kinda looking forward to the "You took advantage of them" vs. "Seller beware" morality debate over paying $200 for one.

I found a Gottlieb Mermaid about 15 years ago here in the Netherlands. I wanted to restore it. I even got one of those repro playfields.. But I received a very generous offer from someone in the US and I had to let her go.. So this is my second chance on a Mermaid ..
