Working on a project "Ice-Revue" which needs a new bottom panel.
I thought I'd snap a few pictures and show a seldom seen perspective of a wedgehead with no bottom panel.
I plan on removing the playfield and motor board before installing the new bottom board.
Sorry if you were expecting something else!

Looks like 1/4" plywood or MDF time.

You let the cat out of the bag. Now your EM friends will know why your game is so loud. Surely they will check to see if the back door is on.

If you are bottomless, and playing an EM with a short in the coin door wiring, and you lean in close, one might experience an new sensation with their equipment.

Done. I bought a 4x4 piece of 1/4" underlayment from Lowe's for $8.97. I cut two separate pieces, one large, and one small, and joined them at the center of the crosspiece behind the cash box. That way, I didn't need to knock out the front or rear of the cabinet. I was able to bow the plywood enough to fit it in place. If you do a bottom panel, don't necessarily go by the dimensions that Clay suggests. Measure your particular cabinet first. Mine was like 21 1/4", and in fact it was still a bit loose from side to side after installing it.
After gluing the corner braces in, it should be fine. The wood looked a little too light, so I stained it with Minwax Early American stain.
All good enough for this project which will yield a player quality game. Better than parted out or trashed, I say.

Good solution, and yes player game always better than parting from my perspective.

jr I tend to find that the thin plywood section below the bottom cab rebate to take the ply bottom is often split/disintegrating. So after repairing the structural integrity of the bottom section I add moulding right around the perimeter of the bottom board which enables a full section bottom board to be installed without removing the front or back cab sections. This is a pic of my Flying Carpet where I needed to replace the bottom board. Just my approach for info-best rgds Wayne

That looks great, Wayne. If it was a total restoration, I'd have gone the extra mile on this one, but it's going to be a player's quality rescue of a game that just barely escaped the dumpster.
