    #7 9 years ago

Woohoo! Glad you are coming home to MGC again Rob!

    #8 9 years ago

First beer's on me in Texas Rob. Maybe the 5th one too...

    #9 9 years ago

Would love to see you in Atlanta for the SFGE June 19-21.

    #10 9 years ago

I really haven't ruled out any shows just yet, except maybe a couple. These are simply the ones I've committed to doing. I'll certainly update the list if/when I confirm others.

I really enjoy doing all the shows I've done, and would do each and every one if I could. I need to find a balance though and that definitely means I'll be doing less this year, but the ones I listed likely won't be the only shows I'll do this year.

So you won't be making it to Tacoma this year?

    #12 9 years ago

Will you be at PAGG on friday? I will only be there that day and want to pick up a pin2K sheet of glass

    #13 9 years ago

Now I don't feel so bad about not going to the Ohio show this year. I always buy something from you even if I don't need it.

    #14 9 years ago

Wish you were doing PATZ again, but understand that constant travel is a killer.

Haha! I'm guilty of this as well.

    #16 9 years ago

I was hoping you'd be at NWPAS, I know Seattle is a long way away but still...

    #17 9 years ago

Still hoping to add the Seattle/Tacoma/NWPAS show to the list, as well as PatZ and Allentown actually. Haven't confirmed anything with the organizers yet though, but will update the list when/if I do.

Rob, I bought a non working addams last year at the Ohio show.
If it wasn't for multiple trips to buy parts from you, I never would have got it going.
I then put it out on the floor for free play. Thank you and please reconsider the Ohio show!

For the shows you drive to, keep in mind that gasoline is half the price it was last year. My son & I did a 7700 mile road trip last June that cost almost $1500.00 just for gas. Some places on the West coast approached $4.50/gallon. We recently drove down & back to the Cotton Bowl game (2600 miles) for under $200.00 in gas.

This is making a huge difference with consumer spending and business costs.

    What about OHIO and chicago??

    #25 9 years ago
    Quoted from mikepin:

    What about OHIO and chicago??

I've already answered privately Mike, so I'm not sure why you'd be asking publicly. If a public answer is what you'd like though, I'm happy to give it...

    Ohio-
I just can't make this show work financially. With travel expenses, food, gas, hotel, etc., I never make enough at the show to come out above expenses. So, as much as I love doing the show and appreciate all the people, I just can't justify doing it any longer.

    Chicago Expo-
As I told you privately, I don't know yet. Expo is more work for me than probably every other show I do combined. I literally don't stop from the second I get in the hotel, three days before the show actually starts, until the second the last thing is loaded into my vehicle, minus the 3-4 hours of sleep I get a night. The prep for the show takes weeks, and the aftermath takes months to get through. With everything going on for me right now, I just can't think about putting that much time and effort into something.

I certainly hope things change as the show gets closer, but I can't commit to doing Expo right now. It is without a doubt one of my favorite shows to do. In fact, when asked by folks what one show I would recommend going to if they could only go to one, Expo is most always the answer. Expo is unparalleled for the complete experience, and is only getting better. I love being there for it, but the work it takes is a killer.

Still thinking it would be great for you to be in Atlanta, was a big success last year and I believe the vendors did pretty well.

    #27 9 years ago

As much as I enjoy visiting you at Ohio every year, I fully understand your situation. You have to think of yourself first and then your job. I hope everything turns for the better for you Rob, your work with this hobby and the shows is much appreciated by all!

    #28 9 years ago

It's not like Rob gets to do much at the shows except fix all of our broken shit the whole time. While everyone else is having fun he is working his tail off. It does not take long to get burnt out even if it is something you love doing. Take some time off and enjoy life Rob.

When I read the title quickly I saw "gard" and thought Choggard had returned. I was mistaken.

Enjoying life for me is pinball. I don't know that I've ever had a "real" vacation. Everything is always scheduled around a pinball event, show, or service of some kind, for as long as I can remember. In the early days it was manufacturer schools/classes that they put on, taking in as much as I could. Then the trade shows, IAAPA, AMOA, and my introduction to Las Vegas and Reno. Rare trips to Disneyland were even timed with the Amusement auctions in LA in the 90's. It's just what I do, taking a pinball machine that isn't working and making it work is what I enjoy.

I don't know what "Pintastic" is Lloyd.

Ahh, right the new New England show. I don't get to the east coast much, and I hate traveling in the summer, so I'll likely not be doing Pintastic.

Could we schedule this for our new Friday night event? We'd sell the last 30 or so VIG tickets in a heartbeat.

I don't know if Wisconsin's laws would currently allow awarding a belt, however :-/
