True, but what do you have to lose?
You currently have a broken spinner that is good for landfill - nothing else. There is no point holding onto a broken part for the sake of it, if it doesn't work then you are no worse off than you are currently.

Out of curiosity, How is the original copper wire fixed to the spinner? Is it glued or held someway, or do it pull out relatively easily?
