Who is Scott Smith? The game told me “Happy Birthday Scott Smith” today. I had heard about it having these Easter Egg dates in the code that come up from time to time but this is the first one I’ve actually seen.

I cleaned it and applied two light coats.

I'm going to try doing mine. Thanks for the info!

Hello everybody.
Just finished to restoring It.
I've a problem on my PIN.
Ball remains stuck on the center lock.
Due test, coil and lock switches are both ok.
Here a video.

Any suggestion in how to solve the problem ?
Thanks in advice.

It was the switch at the enter of the head. It was not fine regulated and the passage of the ball was not feeled.

Does anyone here have a good set of used playfield plastics. Many of mine are missing or chipped.

These are literally all that I have

Anyone know where to start if a ball won’t eject? It will go into ball search after a bit, but I don’t visually see anything under the playfield that would prevent the ball from being ejected.

#2461 1 year ago

Is the trough switch working? Power to the eject coil?

#2462 1 year ago

Eject from where? Trough into shooter lane I assume?

You can test it individually if you’d like. Run the solenoid test from the menu and see if it will do it manually.

You can also check the switches through the test menu. If all balls are in the trough at the beginning of a game like they’re expected to be, you should see all three trough position switches triggered in the “switch edges” test mode.

You have three balls installed in the game, right?

Hi. We all need you explain us better where the ball remains stuck.

I was watching a video about early CGI development in 1988 and this chick was in a commercial they were producing for the benefits of food canning. Looks like it could have inspiration for the Pinbot's Bride, she had the same low sexy voice as well. 8D Of course there was a female robot on Pinbot too, two years before this, but she wasn't as sexy looking and was wearing a helmet...

Yes, a ball won’t eject into the shooter lane at the start of the game. Sorry. It’s not my machine, so I’ll try out these and report back.

mrSATURN2012

You need to test if the three switches under the playfield are working properly.

Enter the test and try it out. Better with the ball over. It can be that if you test them with the fingers they work but with the ball not, because the ball pushes the rod a little less.

Start with the basics. Can you hear the trough coil firing?? If yes then it may only need the balls cleaned. Believe it or not, if you have tarnished balls they can 'stick' to one another in the trough just by the weight of the one's behind. I had this happen in my Getaway recently, was trying to kick the balls out but it just couldn't do it, polish the balls (or new one's) and it solved the issue straight away. If you can't hear the coil firing then it's potentially a wiring issue or something similar.

Is it normal during gameplay for the GI bulbs to go into this obnoxious strobing mode? It happens when you lose one of the two balls and feels like she’s pissed at you and trying to make it harder for you to keep that last ball in play. It stops once you get it back up into either the lock or the small wheel spot. Basically somewhere it can be hung on to so the game can rotate the faces back to the starting point. It never used to do this when I first got the game. Only after I updated the ROMs. I had a P2 ROM somehow still in the game and went to L6. It’s very aggravating this strobing and wish to stop it before I have a fricking seizure or smash my fist through the game lol.

There is a 1-1/2” hex post in the upper right corner of the mini playfield. Is it’s purpose to prevent ball traps or did I miss something to attach to it?

Not my machine shown but visible in the attached picture.

I had little choice but to redo the apron on our machine.

I opted for the blue font (T2 I think) which also has the “Lane Change” text. Any ideas why that was originally printed there for this title?

Lane change on BoP is for getting an extra ball. Hitting the flippers moves the extra ball light from outlanes and inlanes, left or right across the four of them.

I’m getting close to done with the cosmetic surgery on an estate sale, very rough re-imported BOP. A few before and after pictures attached. She benefited from the transplant of many parts purchased from That_Pin_Dude, rkahr, waletboy and Mad_Dog_Coin_Op. I installed new head decals, and I used a couple of gallons of Evaporust!

I just need a couple of playfield plastics. I’m missing the left side “Power Charge During Multiball”, the large clear one that spans the width of the back of the playfield, and the clear one that attaches to the Heart ramp.

Pics provided for reference.

LED questions...

Does BoP have any issues with LED flasher bulbs like in typical System 11 games? Also, are all the playfield bulbs the 555 wedge style? I was really surprised they didn't use the 44 style bases. Just brought my machine home last week. I have clean Titan rubbers enroute and LEDs for the backglass. I'm kind of dreading the playfield teardown...it looks like a pain to install GI LEDs and rubbers.

No LED flasher issues. Stick them in and they will work without modifying anything. The playfield is a mix of 44 and 555 sockets (bayonet / wedge). Most of the feature lights are 555 while most GI is 44 if memory serves. Notice I said most and not all.

No problem! It is also in the manual. Towards the back, page 2-39. Complete with a handy-dandy playfield layout to show you exactly where they are. I put that into a spreadsheet so I wouldn't lose my spot and forget which ones I did and which ones I didn't yet do.

Hey folks...I am looking for a pair of Apron tabs/Mounts for my BOP...during my restore I have misplaced them...anyone have an idea where I could find a set? Today I accidentally burned Q36 on the driver board and I found that the transistor serves both the skill shot/shooter lane flasher and the heart flasher in the backbox that I shorted.

For others reference and thanks to mad_dog_coin_op, I am listing the backbox flasher locations (all with black sockets and originally 906 bulbs, and a big washer sandwiched around the socket) and their corresponding flasher on the playfield.

Upper left BB = Left side of Helmet
Middle left BB = Shuttle Ramp entrance
Lower left BB = Jackpot lit
Heart with dome flasher BB = Skill Shot / shooter lane
Upper right (left side) BB = Jet bumper Entrance
Upper right (right side) BB = left loop
Lower right BB = Right side helmet

total rebuild of bop. (with great help from professor pinball) new coils, new everything. I say that because i can use help. when optics face has two balls loaded in the eyes and kicks them, the left eye (actually her right eye) kicks it so the ball goes across her face over the right cjeek (her physical left cheek) down onto the playfield. so just one ball gets locked for the multiball. any thoughts?

Take the face off and inspect the assembly underneath. Likely something is crooked or not aligned straight with the coils for the eyes. Or the edge of the face piece where the ball sits isn't round/flat anymore and the ball is getting hung-up and comes out off centre.

Here's what mine looked like:

I have the most perfect shooting BOP except for the plunger skill shot. When I full plunge, the ball will rattle around half way and drop down. A half plunge gives me less and a light plunge gives me about the same. It seems I can't get over 100k no matter how different I plunge. I have completely cleaned the plunger, rubber wheels, and wire guide. The plunger is aligned dead center, and I even tried a stronger spring with no luck. Not sure what I need to do to get the ball to go all the way down the wire guide. Any suggestions? 20221016_171021 (resized).jpg20221016_171021 (resized).jpg
No, there is no purple lighting in my BOP. It's the topper reflecting off the playfield.

What colour is your spring? There are about five or six different strengths and they’re colour coded.

Use your phone to make a slow-motion video of the shot. The ball is hitting something and losing momentum. Once you know what it is, it should be easy to sort out.

Out of curiosity why are you wasting money replacing coils. They rarely go bad, and when they do its not all of them. Replacing them all is just wasting the coils.

I could be way off here, but don't you need the add on board to fully deal with the incandescent->LED differences?

I never saw any benefit from installing the “ghosting” patch. Before and after look the same to me. I would say installed the LEDs and re-evaluate. If there is still ghosting, install the OCD boards.

Also, are you talking about just the helmet bulbs or everything non-GI but the helment?
