I have this peculiar problem on my big game. when the bop bumpers fire they stay on--however they don't seem to be locked on at full power. for example, I can bang my fist on the playfield or trigger another pop bumper to fire and the ring will return to normal position. Interestingly, i cannot manually push down the ring and get it to stick, so it seems that it is maybe electric.

good call on turning off. I just did that and they stay down, suggesting it is not electrical. the weird thing is I cannot repeat the behaviour manually-- if I manually push them down they pop right back up.

The other peculiarity is that this occurs on all three pops.

Oh and yes, there is no obvious binding. in fact i just rebuilt all three pops. (new sleeves).

is there a way to demagnetize or do you have to just buy new ones?

Yes, they were just disassembled and cleaned. The only thing I didn't replace was the coil stops.

when you realized your coil stops were magnetized, would the plungers stay down when you manually depressed them? the thing that has me most confused is that when i manually move the plungers, there is no binding or sticking or anything. they only sticks when the coils are energized.

oops forgot to update! So here's what I did....

Took out the plunger and coil stop. ran the plunger through a demagnetizer a few times. Then dropped both onto concrete a few times from about waist height. Then I stretched out the springs a bit more to make them stronger.

After I put everything back together, everything seems to be okay. There is one pop bumper that sticks sometimes, but for the most part, all good. Since I shotgunned it I have no idea which of those things did anything meaningful, but all that matters is it worked.
