Quoted from Mr68:Gomez is a great designer all to himself and he's long been a favorite of mine.
But in my opinion, the unseen, secret ingredient for Stern these days was bringing Keith Elwin into the mix. Once a guy like that is brought on, everybody, and I do mean everybody, elevates their game. The creative culture in Stern right now, as long as it's friendly competition, cements Stern as the all time leader and for some time to come.
Gomez, Borg, Danger, Tim Sexton, and even Gary Stern will up their game.
At least that's my view, sitting on the outside looking in.
you're right of course, but Tim S. is a coder/programmer, not a designer
Quoted from John1210:Deleted post
!?
as others (Borg, Ritchie, Lawlor), he have his own touch, with a fan design layout, and more than few pins with more than few similitudes...
as for example : monster bash > lord > sopranos > transformers
but dont misundertand me, i'm not saying he's/it's bad !
Quoted from TheGunnett:I bet you a nickel it’s coded by Dwight
it took my son (SW big fan) just 1 sec to read this and say to me : Dwight on code ?
Quoted from Joeymonkey:In case you want shorts to match...[quoted image]
oh dear, i'm sure few here were already thinking about a DIY topper !!!
Quoted from crujones4life:My guess is
Pro $7299 ($400 increase)
Premium $9499 ($500 increase)
Quoted from Grantman:Or play them on location for a buck a game.
that's what i do since few time already, and more & more people will go that way, not a prob as its way more fun to break the pin to get freegames
because that's a fact, this hobby is now really crazy, "lambda" people will simply be out of this market, as before pinball (PRO is than 9400 euros here), we have to face the energy crisis, winter is coming (and i'm not talking about GOT strategy), i wanna see how all this will finish
Quoted from Tyler_Durden:I present the definition of less is more.
[quoted image]
and in fact, more than nice as it, and even better than the real thing (this is from U2 ! lol)
only the backbox sides are missing something, may be something simple as "my name is..." one side and "bond, james bond" the other
Quoted from teekee:Not sure if you noticed but they sell out of LEs in minutes
of course this is true, but it need more words
STERN did sell their LE, but not to us, finals customers, distros all around the world take them
this means that we dont know if those distros will sell all of them, or take a blow in the end !?
what i see/heard from pinball friends here, is that more & more are saying they will not buy a NIB again (until prices go down, but... )
Quoted from NashtyFunk:... play on location...
well, to me, this !
and in fact, i found back the old nice sensation when i was a teen, not only because you have to pay to play, but you also have to play well !
with 1 more aim than playing home : to clack that machine to get a free game, and another, and another...
and really, this is the most satisfying while playing in location
saturday, i've played a GOTG not far from home, just 1 coin in, played 3 houres nonstop on it, get all (!) the scores table, and than leave with credits available for the kids there...
the only problem is when pins are not 100%
------------
edit : another solution is, time to time, a home location for X month(es), which in this case is a full loss of money, but in the same time you have 0 worry about the pin maintenance/delivery/pickup... i'm also doing this to learn last pins (but ok not to often)
for sure, the way we, pinball lovers, are living this hobby, is changing
Quoted from PinMonk:Gomez/Lonnie Ropp combination has produced "meh" results before with Transformers and the 2013 Avengers Premium, so I remain concerned by Lonnie being the lead on Bond without a heavy duty assist from Dwight or Tanio.
well, we can talks about Avengers... a lot to say about, good & bad
but Transformers !? ok, its "Lonnie classic" coding, but works very well with that layout, which is more than nice (PRO version the better) from a player perspective
if course its proto, and early code, but :
4 good players on this, and you'll get minimum 2 hrs without a doubt
seems you're quite never in danger at outlanes (and that's a great change for more than few last STERN)
ps : yes, the spinner sound will make people crazy (lol)
Quoted from usandthem:... Transformers ... ended up an overall turd
says the guy who gives 9.840 to AF
... so yes, ramp, scoop, ramp, scoop, ramp, scoop !
Quoted from usandthem:Addams Family is the most important game that there ever was. It’s The Beatles of pinball. Sure, there was pinball before AF, but everything that came after it has been influenced by it in some way. The effects of it are still being felt some 30 years later.
not false, but what about if you're a Rolling Stones fan ? (lol again)
my com was only provocation, to show you that TF is not a turd (as AF is more than ramp/scoop forever)
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I’ve got a half ass review to proffer:
Game has a unique layout. Shots were good. At first I was taken aback by the weird left eject thing but it grew on me. Hit lots of clean combos.
Sound, I couldn’t hear anything. Lots of clips from the movies and the animations I saw I liked (the dragon extra ball animation).
Code is “doesn’t have status check yet” early as many have said so not much to add there. There were modes and multiballs, enough to entertain me through four games.
I think it’s different enough from your average Stern that it will hold folks’ interest.
The rocket thing is just hilarious. It jiggles lasciviously.
I played four games with scores increasing from 30 to 80 to 250 to 560. This one was set very steep,
I think that will do a lot to keep the “long ball time” crowd in line. It didn’t seem too easy to me, as it was very steep. On this particular game that might be the way to go.
[quoted image]
let me ask more about the (may be not) "too easy" for good players : from a design/layout perspective, for the few videos i've seen, ball rarely seems in danger at outlanes, yes ? no ?
Quoted from CrazyLevi:On this particular game - again, set super steep by an angry, vengeful operator - sling outs to the left drain in particular were very common!
I saw lots of civilians step up to the game and get like 10 million. Skilled players were getting blown away their first couple games but then improving.
ok Levi, tanx
