Quoted from DennisDodel:

Regarding the ugly protruding arm of the Jet Pack, it seems to me that an under playfield motorized mech. might be a better looking fit. A protruding rod would work and would also allow the figurine to actually "lift off" and then move around the playfield through a slot.
Just a late Friday night thought.

Probably 2 years, too late.

Quoted from fosaisu:

WTF? My faith in the readers of 007 Magazine is shattered.

It's a great Bond movie. There's a section on how retrospective reviews have boosted its reputation compared to all the Bonds of the Connery/Moore era, and I agree.

I agree, given the circumstances, a new photoshopped translite, but mirrored of this image would be much more fitting.

Lets keep it classy people.

Can't tell if you're being serious? Tell me you are over sensitive w/o telling me you're over sensitive? Seems light and comical to me given this is a pinball forum. But that's where we are today... any little thing is offensive to someone, even if there's zero intent to be offensive.

And to say "bad karma"? What exactly do you mean by that??? Kind of seems like you need to lighten up a little...

With the release of James Bond and Toy Story, the old me would have bet the ranch that TS would be the packed one b/c it was JJP and stern could never compare to them in the toy department but sterns always shot “better” - felt “better”. I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone b/c Stern is now the one bringing the toys and even their layouts have been pretty fresh. I have to tip my hat to George and the boys. They are really bringing it. I just hope JJP wakes up b/c right now they’re completely lost. Like Robbin Williams in Hook not knowing he’s truly Peter Pan. Bring the magic back!

As long as Lawlor is out of the building, JJP will be ok. He's tired and is not well suited to the 2020s pinball scene.

Quoted from Roostking:

Sometimes you dont want an artists interpretation. To me, this is the case here. The pin characters are the exact same as the movie characters and works perfectly, as they will be in the video clips. Its called integration.

Agreed, but TS4 is a great example of one of pinballs most prolific artists (https://pinside.com/pinball/machine/john-youssi) doing a great job with integration. I'm not a fan of TS4 as a game, but the art package looks great (to me, at least). I'm still grappling with what I think of cabinet art for 007...retro is fine, however I'm not sure I like the execution. Would love to see what Youssi would come up with the Bond...pretty sure it would rock. For me, Paul Faris (Paragon, Centaur) and John Youssi are 2 of pinballs greatest artists over the years.

#2417 1 year ago

I am not driven too much by art...I care more about gameplay and assets

I ordered a first run premium. Game looks loaded and fun

I watched the Ts Stream last nite . Game has an awesome light show...just nothing to shoot at

Quoted from Pinball-Wiz:

But that's where we are today... any little thing is offensive to someone, even if there's zero intent to be offensive.

Zero intent to be offensive, but where we were before, people would at least be self aware that mocking someones recent passing can be considered distasteful. - Wich is why rarely random people attend strangers funerals in a clowns costume. (And if they do i‘d bet they would get shot - where we are today.)

Toy story 4 has zero mechs in it and bond is a world under glass I mean just look at how many toy story’s are out there for sale; JJP was overpriced the game and way under delivered

Here you go Legends of Valhalla

We were very impressed with this title at the Allentown show this year.

Toy Story was a big letdown from a pinside point-of-view .
It hasn't even got 1000 posts in the owner's thread after over 3 months .
Rick and Morty , Guns N Roses and Godzilla all had over 1000 posts in the first couple days .

What? I just played one a few weeks ago, it has mechs. Ramp jump shot, pop up strike toy are the two I can think of off hand. Only played for 10 minutes so there might have been more.

I think you covered them all besides the scoop and diverters , I don't think you can count the LCD screen as a mech .

Quoted from fosaisu:

WTF? My faith in the readers of 007 Magazine is shattered.

It’s true actually. I’m a huge bond fan and that’s my favorite one as well. Lazenby doea a great job. You’ve got Diana rigg at her hottest - tele savalis as blofield. Great music and locale. Plus it’s different than all the others. No time to die was one big call out to ohmss- it just wasn’t as good

#2425 1 year ago

I mentioned the Her Majesty’s Secret service insert a few days ago. It’s the same name as movie title.

I think this could be the big surprise Gomez is talking about. 7th movie as wizard mode.

Some of the art in that area is very close to the movie poster with explosions and helicopter etc…

This would be very cool and that movie does fall within the 6 Connery movie era.

#2426 1 year ago

OHMSS is not only the worst Bond film but also one of the worst films I've ever suffered through. Thank Christ Connery came back to save the franchise.

#2427 1 year ago

Looks great to me so far:

9 balls paths at least. I was trying to figure out if you have a distinct toy/area of the playfield associated with the various movies.

- Dragon from Dr. No
- scuba divers and jetpack from Thunderball
- Rocket from You Only Live Twice
- left spinner/ramp shot for Diamonds are Forever?
- right orbit shot for From Russia with Love?
- Don't know if they are associating the DB5 with Goldfinger specifically or if it's just represents Q branch. It debuted in Goldfinger, so it makes sense to associate it most closely with that.

Some mod opportunities might be something to represent From Russia with Love like a train, and something from Diamonds are Forever...then each movie could have a "toy".

#2428 1 year ago

It's interesting that Dr No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger have sort of a separate area of named playfield art or maybe an insert. Perhaps it's to highlight that area or shot is associated with those movies.

#2429 1 year ago

Maybe a small Vegas sign or Casino Sticker or something like that in this area to represent Diamonds are Forever. That orbit ramp shot goes around here, so it would make sense.

Or you could have a small train here and the Vegas sign to the left of the left orbit/spinner shot.

I saw a documentary on a Lazenby and they were filming her majesty's secret service for around 6 months up in the snow and he sex with almost all the girls .

The left orbit is clearly marked for Diamonds - big diamond underneath, little ones all over that light bank

Goldinger may be the better movie, but think the poster art work is a lot more interesting for thunderball.

Some people don't get it.. sometimes it's better to laugh than to cry, and it's not to be disrespectful of the dead. It's actually to honor them and their memory. Oversensitivity and being critical on how others handle things is one of the biggest problems right now.

The internet must be a very scary and offensive place to some! I'm glad I'm not one of them.

as soon as he said it can be as good as godzilla, by looking at some pictures, made me not even want to watch it. Just sounds like he thinks every new game is going to be the best game ever, right out of the box. Godzilla, LOTR and Iron Maiden, happen very very seldom.

I still don't like to say godzilla is sterns best game made, until it's at least 1 to 2 years old. But it's getting old enough to earn it's title finally. Followed by iron Maiden and LOTR.
