Quoted from Psw757:

This photo is the pro, entire left side lined in foam and a rearward scoop under plastic. Can see the top of hood.
Really has me wondering about the premium version now with scuba guy and clear plastic.
[quoted image]

That's why I was thinking the "left ramp" is a subway like Avengers AIQ and would go with the "underwater" theme of scuba.

On the Pro you get no scuba subway, just like Avengers Pro.

My take on this shot is, you shoot under the flipper, it his rubber and drops to the scoop, then maybe a clip or animation plays, then it shoot out from the scoop. Maybe the player has to press the action button, maybe not. Neat idea. George is always coming up with cool stuff.

Quoted from gdonovan:

The Q shot is directly below the car and would fit with gadgets.

the Q shot looks like a scoop to me. Like godzilla

The front edge looks round to me, thus a VUK

Quoted from gdonovan:

Because the term "street level game" has been in use since the early 90's to denote a cheap ass game.
Gottlieb used it as an official term.
https://www.pinballnews.com/site/2017/11/16/the-history-of-street-level-pinballs/

I think you just don't understand the term maybe? Street level was a Gottlieb term (ie no ramps). No one was calling cheap games "street level" before Gottlieb starting making them. They were called cheap after they were made. Home pin and street level are not the same. Home pin is a cheaper game because of the materials used (MDF playfield), and cutting costs like small screen and pop bumper coils firing together. Street level is just a single level game.

And street level Gottliebs had some very cool designs, like Prize Fighter.

Then where did the high rez version of the pro playfield come from?

#2263 1 year ago

I think the issue is a lot of people, myself included, use single level and street level inter changeably when there is a difference

All street level games are single level. Not all single level should be called street level

Beatles is a premium product, its somewhat outside the discussion.

Willing something to be a premium product doesn't make it so. That's The Beatles pin.

Someone did find the playfield, its a page back in this trhea

Quoted from Xdetroit:

Good question. I still have the page open and can't find it. Maybe they had live links that they had already removed when I got there.

Good distinction. I've been baffled at the incorrect use lol. Street level means, no ramps or subways.

#2270 1 year ago

Looks like a lot of shots from that upper-left flipper. A mix of paths, targets and a ramp.

Quoted from docquest:

It's a safe bet to say the LE Thunderball cabinet side art will be Bond fighting underwater and the translight will be Bond with the jetpack. The side art on the head will likely be Bond standing in his red wetsuit with the spear gun.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Any evidence that the LE is Thunderball at all? Was that on the website? I assume its Thunderball or Goldfinger. I know Gomez said his favorite is Goldfinger so I am hoping that is the LE and the other project is a combination of several movies.

$15,500 sounds plenty premium to me.

I’m digging the premium art.

Looks like there's a bond figure fighting another diver in the window under the flipper on the prem pf.. That underwater fight scene in Thunderball felt like half the movie. lol

#2278 1 year ago

Comparing the two it's actually a pretty neat design. They can route and print the same pf and have the distinction purely in the mounted parts. Premium has the diver window, the tower lock/eject and the ball crane from the backboard going to the dragon tank, but everything else seems to be there on the pro too. Maybe even the on-ramp lock as the hole for the up-post is there.

Lots of lock and ball-stop places in this game. Quite unusual for GG. Still really excited about this one, love the theme and the art design - yes even the cabinets and translites! :p

Finally a photo showing it, pretty cool and probably has some lighting effect to it I would assume.

Very much like Stranger Things. All wood playfields are identical. Only the "stuff" is different.

#2281 1 year ago

You can see the scoops diver now under the left upper flipper

Edit: Someone beat me to it hah

#2282 1 year ago

Agreed.
I now realize I was way off.

Pin, layout, Mechs and art
All look awesome !

Quoted from Haymaker:

Man this game looks awesome. I gotta say, the playfield art really isn't that bad either. I think we gave the art a lot more grief than it deserved.

So I held off on commenting until I saw the final pics from stern but man this game is such a home run. Unless for some reason it shoots poorly, they have really loaded this game up, embarrassing JJP with that joke of an attempt at TS charging 12-15k AND I think the art looks great. It’s different! I love Zombie and the recent art style but I like the variety I’m seeing here. I think the pro looks great too. I have a feeling the LE will be even better looking and what in the world is going on with the diver on the left side. As if this game needed more!

I also think Elwin doing a single level while George is doing this one could be one of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen stern make in some time. I just can’t believe they would do it. Interested to see what happens.

Its not odd at all, its been discussed in length multiple times over. Most likely have to drop the ball on the target with the jetpack

Hate to be the one to say it. Playfield looks awesome and the mechs are all over the place. Anyone else thinking the premium/LE could be a maintenance nightmare???

I feel that way about most premiums. I'm a pro guy all the way. Less headache still the same fun.

#2287 1 year ago

Just noticed this insert, high stakes with some cards shown heading right to the scuba diver area. Might be a target in addition to the scoop in there.

I kinda wonder if it’s a baccarat video mode or similar.

If this game lets you bet points, I’m all in

As an owner of Gottlieb pins it's where I became aware of the term "Street Level" and have rarely run across it being used elsewhere. A surprising number of Gottlieb owners have not heard of the term either as it technically was only applied to 6 Gottlieb pins but people have also labeled others like Ice Fever (1985) as street level pins even though it wasn't made in that timeframe.

Single level, minimum of mechs and electronics to reduce down time and cost, cheap cabinets.

And Elwin loved Deadly Weapon. The upper flipper crossshot was the inspiration for the Tail Whip shot on GZ.

BTW: Loving the 007 Premium layout. Gomez does it yet again. Alot going on here & it looks like a it could be a real fun layout with great movie theme integration.

#2295 1 year ago

The translites that don't mention James Bond are both a little odd. And I'm with the font guys on the poor choice of font for Dr. No (luckily it looks like they went with a better font choice on the playfield). But I'm loving all of the original poster artwork, it's fantastic stuff and great that they're making use of it. Translites aside, I think the art package on the Pro handily beats the Premium.

#2296 1 year ago

Nitpicky, but it's weird they used the proper Dr. No font on the playfield insert, but not on the cab and translite.

#2297 1 year ago

Those QR Code readers really ugly up the apron.

#2298 1 year ago

I think the LE will take the same format, movie posters with Thunderball scuba scene on opposite side.
Gonna be interesting how they do the LE mirrored back glass using retro poster art.
Love the retro look..

Someone pointed out the translite font is technically "proper" in that it was also used in posters at the time. It's just different (and worse than) the also era-correct font used on the playfield!

Is it though? Stern gets two games for one license... I doubt there are many collectors who would have to have both a Pro and a LE/Prem version of any game... But I bet there are more than a few that will need to own both the "Elwin" and "main release" version... Granted, I don't like it as a buying collector because either: 1.) I pick the "wrong" game to buy suffering FOMO; or 2.) I give Stern a lot more money than I would otherwise--and no matter what--the assembly line stays backed up, meaning I have to keep waiting for ANYTHING I want from Stern...

While I am not sure I will be buying either... The pics do seem like it might be a pretty cool game. This is coming from a non-Bond fan, and someone who is too young to have appreciated the Connery films growing up.
