This game sucks, face reality
Quoted from nicoy3k:This game sucks, face reality
I don't think I would go that far...but I am definitely disappointed in the wobbling rocket. It just seems like anything else would have been better.
I originally thought to make a post on how I believe the Jack Danger introduces a pin for Stern concept needs to go away. Part of this was that I had the bad luck of joining the stream at the 22nd minute. At that point they had just started playing. I feel like the intermittent shouting, interruptions to say which mode is there, interruptions to say what isn't there, and occasional apologies for the way the game is playing (see pop bumpers) is all counterproductive to selling the pin.
Today however I had a chance at lunch to watch the first 22 minutes and after 1hr 27 minutes when you get to hear George and Mike explain the game. That was much better and George's stories are fascinating (good questions from chat as well). So now I'm torn as to what sort of feedback to give. Maybe just a re-organization of how they present the pin is necessary, less is more. That middle disorganized section of everyone playing the game needs to go. Just Jack or just Nick (?) with George and Mike commenting might be all they need.
As for the pin, I think it looks great. I'd consider a premium someday but for now I'm content with my collection.

Lol. That’s Nicoy. Ray of sunshine.
This game layout crushes BM66 and that game was another awesome Gomez pin with Lyman.
The theme and material to work with is similar but better in this case.
It will be an awesome game when finished.
The early looky Lou’s that will never buy it like Nicoy do it every time.
That’s the reality.
The game looks like a blast to play...really like the wireforms and overall flow on playfield....even the video on early code looked great.
ALOT going on w this pin...add the theme....winner!!

Yea BM66 was saved by epic code. You’re making a huge leap assuming that the same will happen here when the person on code is different.
Quoted from Daditude:I don't think I would go that far...but I am definitely disappointed in the wobbling rocket. It just seems like anything else would have been better.
Would a tablet with a VP in it be better? LOL

Layout is better, so is the theme, Gomez is involved, the team they have on code today is much more robust.
Who is Gomez? He runs Stern and this is his game. Get it?
Not hard to make that leap. The assumption you make that it sucks is based on nothing and the downvotes you got kind of confirm that.
Trash another game that might score you some upvotes, not this own.

That’s the standard for greatness now? Lol

It’s Pinside, of course a negative opinion will get downvotes. Too bad I don’t give a shit.
I expect the code for bond to be at the level of stranger things.
You’re right, Gomez runs stern, yet he allows games with shitty code to exist all the time.

Lol. Which is really good!
We know you don’t give a shit other than to dump a pile of shit on a game you don’t have or won’t have.

So you’re only allowed to comment on games that one is planning on having now?
Quoted from nicoy3k:So you’re only allowed to comment on games that one is planning on having now?
No but everybody knows where you are coming from so it doesn’t matter.
Take your dumps wherever you like.
It’s asinine to say the game “sucks”
Nobody gives a shit that you don’t give a shit and that’s what your opinion is worth. Shit
Quoted from nicoy3k:So you’re only allowed to comment on games that one is planning on having now?
What you’ve said so far is that it’s going to suck and that code is going to be bad.
You’re absolutely just make negative assumptions with nothing to go on.
If you see something you don’t like, discuss it. Maybe you were unimpressed with the current code situation? Cool. But just being negative about this game maybe isn’t good for any reason? You’re not even making a point.

Art is bad, toys are bad. And I am basing the code being bad off the fact the last game this person coded was bad. I know because I owned the game.
At these insane prides I have extremely high standards. Sorry
Quoted from nicoy3k:Weird you seem to care
Just pointing out the obvious brother while I happen to be tuned in right now but otherwise I really don’t care one iota.
You now own 1 game and blown out 22 others. Lol
What are odds?

No need to apologize for the way you feel. Just back it up. Like you don’t have faith in the coder and you find the toys uninspiring. I really like the artwork personally but was hoping that rocket would do more, to be fair.
It seems this game is trending in the right direction. However, it’s hard to ignore how far apart this game is at the Deadflip stream to where Godzilla was at the same time.
Quoted from nicoy3k:Yea BM66 was saved by epic code. You’re making a huge leap assuming that the same will happen here when the person on code is different.
IDK, the layout on Bond looks great to me. Don't think it needs "saving", the way the BM66 layout did.
What is there codewise is what I wanted to see. Lots of synced video clips, and scenes advancing as you make shots. So the direction the code is heading towards, works for me.
I don’t like Stranger Things very much as a game. It’s ok but not for me. But I think it does do a great job of using clips from the show. So if that’s what you want out of Bond, I think this team can easily manage that. (Licensor pending)

STHLE $8800
BondLE $13000
Love STH now and when people were taking a dump on it.
1000 of Bond. 500 of STH.
The numbers are a bit different today.
“In before the massive dump”?
Quoted from nicoy3k:So you’re only allowed to comment on games that one is planning on having now?
No, but you make a hell of a statement saying "THIS GAME SUCKS".
Never having played it, I assume?
You got your reaction, happy?

Hey if Bond ships with early code as bad as Stranger Things, just wait for the lull when people sell it because they’re impatient and few are demanding the game that hasnt been mostly coded yet and they’re chasing the next new game
Quoted from TreyBo69:Hey if Bond ships with early code as bad as Stranger Things, just wait for the lull when people sell it because they’re impatient and few are demanding the game that hasnt been mostly coded yet when the new shiny comes out in another 4 months.
Exactly. Patience. TWD, BM66, STH
The first two were MUCH worse early.
1,000 games?
If you can wait then prices will be lower eventually.
After watching the gameplay reveal the game looks more fun then I thought it did and now I really can’t wait to flip it myself. Fun side note this hype has got me wanting to watch all the movies.
Why didn't Stern reach out to Martin Ayub of Pinball News to do the custom British call outs ? What an honor that would have been.
I mean they got Ed Robertson for BKSOR and some Rush stuff.......
Nothing great or new in the Stern James Bond release with Deadflip
Other than the laughing like little school boys.
Was an easy pass for me.
Enjoy to those who wish to purchase
Played the pro and premium - pro a little faster but Toys on premium are awesome - this is a great game that shoots Very nicely but is a little tougher than George’s other games. Can’t wait to get mine now!
Yea the code is early but I like being on that journey.
Ignoring the fact that the machines have gotten wildly expensive, this game has the potential to be right up there with BM66 and Godzilla. I own them both and I am in on this one for an LE. I just liked the art and color scheme better, plus not waiting months made the extra cost worth it to me. Notice I said worth it to me. Ordinarily, I’d go premium and call it good.
There is no doubt the pro is the best “value” if you’re the least bit price sensitive, I have a feeling the pro will not disappoint. As for code, this may be a case of it being like the Munsters, good things come to those who wait. The recent code enhancements on that game made a huge difference. it went from an average game fo one that is very fun to play. Stern appears not abandon games and continued to make an effort even when a game was ending its run as in the case of the Munsters.
I played the Premium today.
It was pretty loud on location so I can’t speak for the sound package.
The gameplay and shot making was st a lot of fun.
Code is no question early but the potential is no doubt there to become a really good game.
Personally, I really enjoyed it. I’m definitely in on an LE.
I'm down for an LE now after deciding to wait for a Prem to see how the code will develop during the next year but I love the theme. I'm a Bond/Gomez fan and wanted the LE I think this is one of the best themes they've done in years so I'm dropping the cash on it.
Quoted from NeilMcRae:Very nicely but is a little tougher than George’s other games.
Tougher than Gomez's Avengers?
Probably not ...
Quoted from Roostking:No, but you make a hell of a statement saying "THIS GAME SUCKS".

Me saying “it sucks” is not different than you saying “it’s awesome”. Never played it? I assume?

It’s different because you spilled the chicken noodle soup in your backpack, and never seem to wonder if it’s the end or just a recycled opportunity. And don’t pretend you don’t know what I mean- this happens every year in lead up to the end of the year.
Game looks great- seems to shoot well, for me a top theme so easy decision for Premium. All of these machines are a bit of a crapshoot until you get it in your house and see if it connects with you or not.
Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:Sounds like we might need some custom code for the music if key bond artist tracks are missing due to licensing costs, which is not surprising really.
This.
Connery Bond music is a must.
And just because it makes me laugh, I'd put in Casino Royale theme (the 1960s film).

Tougher than Johnny Mnemonic? Impossible
I watched about 5 minutes in the middle of game play stream and I lost count on how many times the ball goes into the reverse scoop on the left. That tells me that it's a not a good shooter. Stern should make a modern title like the John Wick series. Tired of these 50+ years titles.

Same here. I just jumped in the middle of gameplay to see how it played. It looked like it was tough to find shots and a little clunky. Ball was in the pops for like 5 years at one point. Scuba scoop sure was busy. That delay interrupts flow and then it just throws the ball to middle of pf. It would of been cool if you could control where it shoots like into a bank of targets. Still, it looks like a good game with potential to get better with code. While Bond is timeless, I do agree with more modern titles. Problem is majority in the hobby are on the older side.

Agreed on the scoop. Would have been cool to be able to control it and aim at targets.
Quoted from Gribbs:“…lower standards than *I*”.
Actually, the correct grammar is "than me." "Than" like "between" is a preposition.
Quoted from Jaytech10:Tired of these 50+ years titles.
Gary Stern knows his market.
Mandalorian, Stranger Things, Jurassic Park are 50 year old franchises?
Quoted from jawjaw:While Bond is timeless, I do agree with more modern titles. Problem is majority in the hobby are on the older side.
I'm the perfect demographic for Connery Bond (on the older side, but agree that it would be great to see more modern titles. Rick and Morty is a perfect example of the creators collaborating on the callouts/game and it results in a better product. Hard to imagine the Bond license holders care much about pinball and Connery is dead. I thought it was cringy when Gomez was implying the licensee is partly/largely responsible for the software delays. Please.
It could end up being a fun game, but it's really impossible to know at this point since so much is missing. As you'd expect, folks that love the license are hoping for the best. This is how I felt with Led Zeppelin...hoping it would be great. In the end, I had to pass...the game just didn't rock.
Spinner sound should be the Walther PPK gun shot. Make it so George Gomez, Mike V, Lonnie, Ken Hale.

When did i say its awesome?

I didn't want to get into grammar wars (my comment was just to 'bust his balls' since he referred to his 'higher standards'), but I believe the simple rule (the issue is the "I vs. me" NOT "than vs. then"), he was essentially saying "You have lower standards than me do, that's totally fine", but again...grammar wasn't really the point - messing with him WAS. haha...
