Ok well I made Major progress today.

I got my new Alltek MPU and Driver board. Put the MPU in and had some issues. Game would light up and play a short tune and that was it. Bummer!!

Then the test switch in the coin door would not do anything, DEAD!! Major bummer!! So after testing wires and checking this and that, the J3 plug was not making a good enough connection. Once I fixed that EVERYTHING WORK!!!!! Score board work, everything!!

Now I can start tearing it apart knowing that it all works. Good Day!!

Can't wait to see (in pictures) this complete restoration...

Well I about got the playfield done underneath.

Pretty tedious work. I think putting back together takes long, than taking it apart. All those stupid staples for the braid wire were just a pain. Also those staple damaged the wire too. Nice

Wondering what everyone's opinion is on using mylar around the pop bumpers like from the factory. I can't decide.

Anyway here are some pictures of the progress....not a very high tech work area, but it works for me.

Yeah I looked at all that.

My thoughts were that somehow you would have to figure out a way to keep everything from hanging and dangling every time you went to turn the playfield over. I know that the drop target, pop bumper and kicker assemblies have some weight to them and I just didn't want to have all that pulling on the wires.

I'm sure someone will say..."just unhook all that and you won't have to worry about it" but I wanted to keep as much hooked up until I was ready to work on that particular item so I wouldn't have so many part laying around everywhere, but that's just me I guess.

Vid addresses this in the post below, and I'm actually going through this exact step currently on my Atlantis.

But in the end, I think it is whatever works best for you!

    Keep making progress!!

I did my first PF swap using a table with egg crates and I picked it up and turned it over every time I needed to swap sides. Trust me a rotisserie makes it a lot easier, especially when it falls and breaks stuff.

Well playfield is basically done with just a few things to finish up underneath. Got to replace a couple of stationary target, which I have just haven't done it yet. You never realize all the little things that might need replaced or fixed till you start tearing into it.

So....I am working on the cabinet. I have it stripped down and have applied the first coat of primer and am sanding that down to get it nice and smooth, filling in all the little dents and dings. Should look nice when done. Got my stencil kit from pinball pimp, hope I don't screw that up.

I am kind of unsure what to do with the inside of the cabinet. My thoughts are to spray the sides yellow and do the bottom in some sort of a light brown??? I sanded down the floor but it still is stained and looks bad. Hard to see in pictures but I don't like how it looks. Any thoughts??

    Keep ya posted!

Got the yellow applied and first stencil laid down in orange. Turned out pretty good I think.

Removing the stencil was tricky, wants to tear in places and fall into paint. So you have to kind of trim it, or cut it, as you pull the material off. Also painted the inside floor of cabinet a light brown to give at a cleaned up look.

So good progress today...........more to come.
