wonder if someone can help me here. I have terminator 2 and two years ago the batteries leaked all over the board. I removed the board and cleaned it up with a tooth brush and replaced the battery holder and it worked fine, till now. I am having issues with the gun not finding home and have done everything trying to get it to set. when you go into switch edges the gun is showing good but when calibrating it the gun wont calibrate or find home. I am wondering if the board might be gone now as when I start up the machine and programed date and time this is the first thing that shows up not set when the batteries are good. How do you know the board is damaged or something isn't working right

Yeah, that is not cleaned properly, nor did you change any parts that were damaged. Post a picture of the board, but it sounds like your board is toast the way you describe it.

Distilled white vinegar will neutralize the alkaline damage. Be liberal. You should remove any IC's that are socketed in the areas damaged. Trace damage may need to be sanded. Any faulty IC's found should be socketed. Clean board with soap/water and then 90+ % alcohol.

When it happened I did clean it with vinegar and water to neutralize it also replaced the battery holder with new. Like I said worked for a while then each time I started it up took longer and longer for the gun to go and find home, till now all it does is search. I’ve trouble shoot everything I can think of with the gun.
The question I have isn’t buying a new board but want to know if replacing the board will fix this instead of having to go deeper and finding out it wasn’t the board at all but something else. There is one more issue that sends me back to the board is the three targets at the front of the scull don’t register on test and it says #77 which I’ve seen a issue with some. They don’t register at all so figure that might be the board causing that. This game was working perfect then didn’t play it for a while then one problem after another like most things when you don’t use it a lot

Yes. Replacing the board, and perhaps repinning the column connector will fix the issue.

Alkaline abatement will s more complicated than an acid bath in vinegar.

All of the switches you note are on column 3 of the matrix. You could stop gap repair that board by fixing the discontinuity in column 3. It will fail again, perhaps in another way.
