BMOTD = Bonehead Move of the Day.

Just finished shopping/mild restoring Flash. Turned it on, played a game and something wasn't right.

Let's see if you can spot my error from the YouTube video. First person to get it correct will win a Cyclone clown plastic (the one wearing a fig leaf and suspenders under his coat.)

Good catch - should have caught that myself, but no, that's not it.

Swapped out the video after replacing a bad lamp. (I could also use a new camera!)

No plastics on the guides next to the flippers.

#7 11 years ago

Is the one way gate at the exit of the shooter lane the wrong way around ??

Keep looking...

right slingshot bulb?

It's dim but working - that's what happens when you put old lamps in the dishwasher - not all of them come out well until they run a bit...

Probably work better with 5 drop targets on the left instead of 4.

You forget one ?

Good eye Lloyd. If my camera was better you'd see the fifth one down. It's there. That's not it.

You put the wrong pop bumper caps on.

LTG : )

#14 11 years ago

Forgot to put one of the rubbers back on?

#15 11 years ago

I swore I read Fish Tales instead of Flash, then watched the video and was like "Um, you put in the wrong playfield and translite."

#16 11 years ago

Why is the Ball In Play light lit solid when it's in attract mode?

I wanted the red caps - there are also blue wafers under the jets. That was by design.

Quoted from RWH:

Forgot to put one of the rubbers back on?

All rubbers on and correct (even though the kit from Marco was wrong.)

Quoted from Frax:

Why is the Ball In Play light lit solid when it's in attract mode?

Does that when you first turn it on since a match number hasn't been generated yet.

I wish I was that good!

Didn't put the ball back?

#19 11 years ago

There have been like 6 winners of this contest already and that's not what he is thinking of? Video is not that good, I give up.

#20 11 years ago
Quoted from RWH:

Didn't put the ball back?

No.

Worse.

#21 11 years ago

Thought I saw somw reflections but, I'll take a shot and say, you didn't put the glass back in?

#22 11 years ago

Switched the third flipper with one of the main two by accident?

#23 11 years ago

Is the shooter lane missing the lighting?

#24 11 years ago

The #4 and #5 insert decals are in the wrong spot?

#25 11 years ago

Oops, I mean 3 and 5.

#26 11 years ago

Winner!

#27 11 years ago

At first I just thought you had one of those ultra rare, highly desirable "prototype" playfields with the special numbering system I'd only heard about.

Art.

#28 11 years ago

Hint:

The problem cannot be seen in diagnostics.

viperrwk

#29 11 years ago

So it's not the wrong numbering on the bonus inserts? Oops...

#30 11 years ago

Agree can't really tell in video.

#31 11 years ago

The bonus inserts are numbered correctly.

My playfield:

BTW, it seems that Sys4 Flash machines had blue posts and Sys6 machines had red posts. Mine is a Sys4.

#32 11 years ago

Oh, so I was right? I was afraid I was telling you something you hadn't caught yet!

#33 11 years ago

my bad, I thought the pic you posted was the IPDB! Man, I'm stumped!

#34 11 years ago

Hint #2: The problem can only be seen in video - not in a still photograph.

Hint #3: I stripped EVERYTHING off the playfield top and bottom and had to put it all back.

the left outlane switch is missing

#36 11 years ago
Quoted from marlboroa:

the left outlane switch is missing

Thought that too, but doesn't fit hint #2.

#37 11 years ago

Been looking....... looking.jpglooking.jpg mabe a little closer.....spying.jpgspying.jpg Nope don't see it!

#38 11 years ago

you got the center light wrong. All of them in the big circle

#39 11 years ago

Still not sure on hint #2. A video is a bunch of frames or photographs in succession. Not sure how it can't be seen in a photograph.

#40 11 years ago

they pause on 2,4,6,8, and 10. should be 1,3,5,7,9 you have lots of lights to move

We have a winna!

I did not index the bonus lights and I installed them one off. When I start a game, the first bonus light lit is #2. D'oh!

I will admit - this was a tough one to spot - took me about five games before I noticed.

marlboroa - PM me your address and the clown will be in the mail.

Thanks for playing everyone!

Here's what attract mode should look like on Flash. I moved the bonus insert lights one over. Also turns out that when I had them in the wrong place the solder connection on the "6" bonus light (really #5) was cracked and that's why it was out in the first video I posted. Moving the lights stressed the connection enough for me to find it.

Also notice that the bonus stops counting when you get to 29. I'm guessing the software doesn't allow for the 10 and 20 bonus lights to both be on simultaneously - at least with the yellow flipper ROMs.

Anyway, congrats again to marlboroa for spotting the mistake.
