I just ordered the X-pin white LED and a blue cover from Pinbits for it for me Tron. Hope it isn't blurry, never seen one in person. I will reply when I get it, just ordered today.

Quoted from Aurich:Blue filter over white looks good. It photographs badly, tends to wash out and look white with a blue halo, but in person it's a true blue across the whole thing.
There definitely is. I don't have an LED DMD in my collection anymore (will again soon, Star Trek Premium coming in a week or so) but I do have a ColorDMD, and it's simply not as bright as LEDs. It's a laptop screen. I'm running it in full color mode (Scared Stiff) not Sigma, but I never look at it and go "I wish that was brighter". To me it's a non issue, totally easy to see.
With the white DMD you can change colors just like the ColorDMD. Filters vs settings, so that's a wash. Price wise they're close, ColorDMD a little more I think? The tradeoff is the LEDs are brighter, and the ColorDMD doesn't have any grid alignment issues.
What are grid alignment issues?
Quoted from Aurich:LED DMDs these days are made up of blocks of LEDs. If the blocks aren't perfectly aligned, and they rarely are, you can see little distortions in the grid of the display.
So do the factory orange displays have the grid line problems too? Are replacements worse for this?
Quoted from McSirTuna:Thanks for all the input, definitely helped to "clear" up this situation for me. I believe I know which way I'm going to go with it. It is nice that we get to have this many choices to pick from on something like a replacement DMD.
If you don't mind me asking what way did you decide?
