Wow, great project, in all senses of the word

Got most of the PF done and switches adjusted. Just missing a couple pieces of hardware. It will be ready to drop in a cabinet very soon. I’ll try to do better with updates and pictures. Wish I could upload a video.

Got the playfield dropped into the cab today. Also installed brass side rails, hinges and a brass plated ground plate. Chris Royalty’s Hot Rod Arcade did all the brass work on this pin and there is a lot of brass.

Quoted from Bud:

Been trying to get some paint and decals done on a few other projects before it gets cold, then I can get back to the TOTAN. But here are some pics for eye candy of the other projects.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That's the worst BSD I've seen!
What is that on the back box?

#55 4 years ago

Looking great!! This has come a LOOOONGGG way from where it started.

It has, but at this point in my life and the number of restorations I’ve done, I wouldn’t do one like this again unless it’s super rare and worth a lot of money. How long has it been since I pick this project up from you?

Swollen wood from water damage.

Probably 3 years, maybe pushing 4.

Little more progress today

Almost finished up. Just have to hook up the speaker panel, update the color DMD for TOTAN, drill holes in the backbox light tube and install the lights/harness/ribbon cables and I think it will be done. Then the usual dialing in the pin.

This is awesome Bud. Will this one be making its way to Tappers?

Unfortunately I had to sell it. I just need to finish it up and sent it down the road.

I got the light panel drilled out and ready for the harness. Hopefully the mirrored back-glass comes in tomorrow.

Finally got this mirrored glass in. Funny thing is..... this was one of the hardest tasks to do on this pin. They do not want to fit, but I got in there.

Wow. Looks incredible. Is the issue with those mirrored glasses true for all machines, or just a problem with this one? I was thinking about getting one for IJ.

I think it’s only an issue with WPC95 machine because of the lighting panel that is attached to the glass via plastic trim.

I have one in my IJ and there is no issues at all. I would imagine all pins with a swing board light panel would be easy to use the thicker mirrored glass.

All done.

That’s an entirely different pin, I bought it to reference some of the wiring and used a couple small parts off of it and the wiring harness for the light tub on the backbox.

This pin is an excellent restoration candidate, previous owner applied new decals to a solid cab. It came with a new reproduction playfield, a new skill shot and I added a bunch of other new parts to the pin in addition to the leftover parts from the blow out TOTAN. I was going back and forth on restoring this one too. But pins are like gardens, you only get to redo so many in your life time and I didn’t want to do another one back to back.

I’m sure it’s going to turn out real nice knowing the kind of work you do.

#77 4 years ago

The unsalvageable parts went to the fire. The old cab was so bad my kiddos were able to smash it up in a few swings.

Lol, that’s not zip-tie. It’s wax string used for cable lacing.

Your “better than players” is considered “restored” to most people in the hobby
