How do you know this to be true? like even relatively? Your proof is that sometimes a thread you're in doesn't refresh properly?

    #3 5 months ago

I think you shouldn't see new post in a thread at all when someone has you blocked. When this occurs I just look at the topic stats at the top and see who the latest post is.... boom, that's the blocker (you can even click on their handle and it will show you their page and that the user does have you blocked.)

It is annoying. And dumb anyway, because you can sign out or have an alternate browser open without you signed in and read everything anyway.

    Quoted from Pinhead_:

Happens all the time for me as well for the (I think 2) people who have me blocked. You're reading the thread, you get the '1 new post' message at the bottom, you click it, it refreshes but shows nothing because the user has you blocked, so it waits a little while, and does it again. There should be a check on that '1 new post' message to see if the post has you blocked or not and if so, just don't show it.

    Thaat makes more sense.

I guess it's a small price to pay to not have to see the user.

    blocking is for babies

    Quoted from Haymaker:

    blocking is for babies

Well, yeah. But that's the way of the world.

I'm blocked by one guy. I don't care about that especially, except for the fact that he offers tech info to people and I can't see it. I don't want to go repeating whatever he's telling people.

We should still be able to see posts by people who do this. I said as much to the mods. But you know how that went...

    #10 5 months ago

    It's a known issue.

Unfortunately, new posts and thread pagination still operate as if all posts are accessible even if certain posts are not available to you. It's a complicated technical issue.

Be strong, you can make it through this. I believe in you.

The only time I see this issue is when Levi posts. He blocked me and it’s hilarious trying to follow the 100 million threads he posts in.

The easy way around this is to open a new incognito window/tab (or whatever it may be called on your browser of choice), copy and paste the link and you can read anyone who blocked you's posts

Yeah I’m blocked by a guy who I’ve only interacted with because he often sells stuff here. Says a lot about him, doesn’t it?
He doesn’t offer anything else of value to Pinside so I’m not missing anything. It all seems silly to me in my case.

I don't know but I made a guy rage quit the site by calling his hideous venom pro wire form mod ugly

This is so true - I have no idea why somebody 'blocking' me also includes me not being able to see their posts or follow threads they are in.

Luckily it only happened once but it kinda pissed me off that a gimmick account that was made simply to create havoc in the forums was given that much power to actually accomplish their mission. Fortunately mods eventually realized this user wasn't even attempting to participate in discussions and permanently blocked the account.

I am not into blocking ,but I did block one single user. It never popped up again.

I love the idea of blocking the dude and posting in here. Good idea embryonjohn

I’m mad I can still see this thread. It’s ruining my tom foolery experience.

    The juxtaposition is hilarious.

    Nvmnd... blocked

    #29 5 months ago

It does suck, but then again it might tell the blocked member something aboot how insufferable they are.

I mean not ME; because the blockees are the dumb ones!

    #30 5 months ago

I'm on ignore from someone who I did not get back to in timely fashion lol....

Blocked is better then being Ghosted.
Puritans called it Shunned, same thing.
    The Prisoner called it "Unmutual"

Come on man. This is one of the weirdest meltdowns in Pinside history.

If you are too cheap to pay up you really don't need to manufacture an excuse like this! Just own it!

    #35 5 months ago

    Single disgruntled user btw.

    #36 5 months ago

So basically, if there's ANYTHING you don't like about Pinside, make a whine thread and refuse to pay!

Too many carguments. Where's the cargument filter? CUT OFF!

Why am I forced to read all of these pricing threads? CUT OFF!

Pinside 100 sucks (100 percent of the people here have some kind of issue with it). CUT OFF!

I don't like that I can't post porn here anymore, and my racist political rants keep getting modded. CUT OFF!!

If only the people who have absolutely zero complaints about their "user experience" here paid, they'd be able to afford one 20-year old server to keep this place running.

    #37 5 months ago

I was in a thread I enjoyed but 1 person kept saying B.S.I was anti block
I blocked that person and now I enjoy the thread again.I am being blocked
by a couple so it works both ways.

When you take Pinside too seriously

    Quoted from Bublehead:

You people can post and jeer all you want... I'm at least not wasting my money on paying to be treated this way. Lord knows we already pay enough for this hobby buying machines. Which is where my money is going from now on. They can keep all the "perks" of pissing people off with their terrible handling of the blocking feature, how it is implemented, and that a single blocking user affects an innocent reader of the forum so dramatically. I have the right to demand some kind of value for my money, and Pinside is worth being free, not worth paying for in my book. Not at this service level. YMMV.

    Block them back.

Only I'd you knowm whom they are. Yiu can't see anything aboot them if you're blocked; unless they start the thread.

    what

    Quoted from Haymaker:

I'll give you that. But the point is all the same. If Pinside has your whities in a knot, log out and do something else.

But the OP gets baited too easily and is known to go on weird tantrums...so there's that.

    Quoted from Bublehead:

Well, I am glad my subscription ran out...

To offset, I just renewed mine and upped my level this year.

Seriously, if this was a site run with the resources of a huge IT company then I would expect more. Given what the site does for the hobby, how it is basically run by an individual, etc., I'm more than happy to overlook a few technical challenges.

BTW, I find it to be a little childish/snowflakey to block someone. However, it is a feature of the forum so people have the rights to use it. There are plenty of people here with whom I don't align with, am offended by at times, etc. Regardless, I choose to either not read their posts, not respond to their posts, or just don't bother to participate in thread discussions where they are heavily involved at times. But you know what? I can still handle differing of opinion and being offended by someone without having to be passive-aggressive about it.
