Quoted from shacklersrevenge:

Movies like the Deer Hunter or 2001 Space Odyssey, are slow moving, and are both regarded as top movies of all times. 2049 will reach this pinnacle, if it hasn't already

They showed Blade Runner the Final Cut here last Friday, in anticipation of the release of 2049. I went along to see it for the first time.

The National newspaper sent along all their young entertainment reporters to watch it and they all fell asleep during it lol. No bull!

Compared to the modern movies, Blade Runner is very slow, as you say similar to 2001, Deer Hunter, Godfather ... all those classic films move at a glacial pace. MOON is really slow yet it's one of the best movies I've seen.

Too slow for the ADHD iphone Michael Bay generation!

That's like a guaranteed winner for the critics to go that high on Chan
Yep i see they are up to 94.7 mill on box office mojo. 45 domestic and 49 international.
Maybe international can save it?

Don't forget to add in:

- Airline sales
- DVD releases
- special DVD editions (there'll be a lot of them)
- TV pay for view movie channels
- Netflix release (or wherever it ends up)
- merch sales

I'm sure they'll do ok out of it.

Valerian:

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $40,479,370 18.0%
+ Foreign: $184,684,740 82.0%
= Worldwide: $225,164,110

Add on the DVD sales etc, and it's not quite the bomb everyone was saying.

Just went and saw 2049.

Thought it was great.

Having seen the original Final Cut only two weeks ago, it was fresh in my mind.

I liked how 2049 carried on the theme almost spot on. Similar pacing (slighter faster than the original) Same cityscapes and Japanese imagery in the cities. Cool nod to Atari in one scene. 2049s music carried on the same theme as Vangelis did in the original.

Not once did I look at my watch ...
And nobody walked out.

I can understand that not everyone is going to like it. In the same way I don't like a lot of popular movies. Everyone has their personal tastes. Embrace them!

Quoted from BC_Gambit:

I think she just made one of her memories and shared/sold it, which is apparently against the law/code whatever for the memory creators/sales companies. The other replicant in K's apartment also recognised the horse, suggesting she had the same memory implanted in her "at birth".

Yeah, that’s what I picked up. There are X number of memories, shared between all the replicants. So a number of them will have the same childhood memories.

But I actually enjoyed doing my Colonoscopy prep last night

But you’d be used to that feeling with all those NIBs you buy, Ice.

I rarely watch movies a second time, but I’m looking forward to watching 2049 again at some stage.

Jezzzzz ... I might even buy the blu-ray!
