I just bought a project Blackout that had no MPU or driver board, but the seller gave me some old boards off his shelf for me to have rebuilt. These did not come out of a blackout.

What do you guys think, They are 'dirty' but don't look like junk. Should I send them out and see if they are worth while to repair or should I just bite the bullet and get a Rottendog?

MPU looks ok with no hacks other than someone removed the battery holder, and someone was chewing on the CR1 crystal.
Driver board has had some crummy quality work and it looks like both big PIA have been resoldered or replaced, and some transistor work.

See Pictures.

Thanks Guys!

Looks bad with the soot/dirt, but for sure rebuildable. I don't see any major hacking or battery damage. That dirt will probably wash off unless it is baked on soot from a fire.

Crystal cans get banged up from being the tallest thing on the board. Specially when PCBs get stacked up.

Agree, those are totally rebuildable.

Needs a CPU, ROMS, interboard connector, some resistors in the lamp matrix or MOSFETS, NVRAM or remote battery holder, maybe ROM and CPU socket for starters. Nothing too tricky.
