The drop targets are not connected directly to the sound board.
The drop targets have switches in the switch matrix that tell the CPU when a target is hit and when they are all down. They use a horseshoe shaped contact on the back of each target to make and break these switches. They are hard to get adjusted and working consistently.
The problem is that the “hit” is triggered in the middle as the target is dropping. If the contact isn’t adjusted and cleaned properly, this closure can be missed.
Check that the targets are scoring as each is dropped. If they aren’t, the contact cleaning and adjustment is your solution.
