The diode on the GI relay was bad so I replaced it but installed the diode backwards - big idiot move. Played a game and hit blackout and there was a pop from the backbox and no GI flash sequence. Checked the diode I replaced and it was bad. Installed a new diode - correctly this time - but did not resolved the issue. I checked transistor Q43 - controls the relay - and it checks out okay.

Did I fry the relay? I wouldn't think a reversed diode would not do that but..... If so, can the relay be found or repaired?

Thank you in advance for your expert advice.

I rechecked Q43 and it indeed is bad. The original blackout driver board used TIP120 transistors. The Rottendog board uses a 13N10L. Can I use the TIP120 - I have several of these on hand.

    Thanks,

Roger that. Ordered a few from Mouser.

    Thanks,
