Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Great post. If these were in stock id pick one up. Im going to see Marco Sat, going to bug him for about a dozen parts.
The correct parts are: 12-6971 Gate, 10-434 torsion Spring

I'm interested if you do a run.
I recently completed putting new side art on my Black Rose pinball. The new decals were a Christmas present from my children. The factory art was decals which made the preparation much more time-consuming than if it had been painted. Removing the decals required a heat gun and a lot of scrapping. Make sure you heat and scrap all of the glue as removing it later with Mineral Spirits is messy and very time consuming. I used the dry method of decal application which is fairly easy if two people work together. A couple of items of note are I used metal leg protectors to protect the decals and used Pinball Universe Protectors to protect the inside side art during the many times I raised and lowered the playfield. During reassembly I had a CPU board problem so I sent it to Pinball Cauldron for repair. I then had a flipper opto board problem which was fixed by cleaning the optos and reflowing the soldier. It is nice to be able to play Black Rose again.

The gate I made never worked very well. Marco has the correct parts in stock. BR is a much better game with a working gate. Gate 12-6971, Spring 10-434
Quoted from GraniteStatePin:all, hoping you guys can confirm something for me. After looking at some pics
Do you have the manual? It shows where the connectors go & the correct wire colors.
Quoted from GraniteStatePin:Has anyone tried a playfield protector for this title?
Cliffy makes a protector that goes around the front of the cannon. I don't have it because I have not had any canon ware, however I have Cliffy protectors on many of my games and they work very well.
I am having trouble that the Lockup Enter Switch (71) creates a Slam Tilt (21). When activating the switch (Lock enter) by hand it works correctly on the start of a ball, however after any other switch has been activated it (Lock enter) goes to slam tilt. I have disconnected all of the actual Slam tilt switches. Any help would be appreciated.
Quoted from Billc479:Check the diodes on the switches in the row and column of switch 71. You will need to lift one side of the diode before testing. You will likely find a bad diode.
Thanks, there are 3 switches in the column & 5 more in the row. Do you know how many slam tilt switches there are? I've found 2 (coin door & bottom of the cabinet)
Quoted from jheath:Where is the best place to get Nvram?
I use NVRams in my Data East, Sega, and Stern Whitestar games because the ram chips are socketed and the installations are easy. On Bally & Williams games the ram chips are soldered to the boards and removal and installation of a socket are beyond my soldering skills. I have found Frank’s Lithium Battery Boards-for BALLY-WILLIAMS within my soldering skill level. https://www.tntamusementsstore.com/wptnt/product/franks-famous-battery-board/
Battery Board (resized).jpgI was having problems with the left flipper on BR. Sometimes it was fine but would get weak during the game or the flipper would drop while the button was still pushed. I suspected it might be the flipper opto board, so I switched the left & right boards and the problem followed the original left board. The part is A-15894 Flipper Opto Board Type 1. Type 1 goes in games with more than 2 flippers.
I’m still having slam tilt problems. Is the slam tilt switch below the playfield? Can someone describe where or take a picture. Thanks
I finally fixed my problem of the Lockup Enter switch causing a Slam Tilt. The Middle Ramp switch was mechanically stuck closed. Both the Lockup Enter & Middle Ramp switches are in column 7. It turns out with the Middle ramp switch stuck closed any switch in that column also closed the corresponding row switch in column 2. Once the Middle ramp switch was properly adjusted the Lockup enter switch no longer slam tilted. Seems strange to me but it is fixed.
Quoted from Mro-Tek:Is the Black Rose cabinet art painted on or is it a sticker? Thanks!
It is a sticker. This is it being heated and scrapped off.
