Normal blue cap? Found the collar but not the cap. Part number?

The manual is your friend.

Look here and you will find it.
I saw that in the manual and thought that was the setup for the clear pop bumper under the ramp. So you’re saying this is the same cap on the other 2 Pops too, just a different color with a collar added?
No, 2 are the same and one is different. 2 of them are 2piece and one is a cap. I will get you part numbers shortly

When you can get part numbers let me know.
Am I also kidding myself thinking I can get a cannon body replacement? What options are out there for a damaged body?

The canon bodies are pretty rare. There is a nos one on the pinside shops for 250 pounds. I am really surprised no one hasn't 3d printed it yet with all of this talent that people have these days.

I’m not seeing the ad for the cannon body, do you have a link?
Quoted from nitrojcrawf:The part numbers are in the links I provided
Gotcha thanks mate!

I just got access to a very nice 3D printer and am thinking about reproducing it as my next project.

Please do!
This may be a silly question - but do you guys have foam behind your targets?
Every single one of my targets has the foam missing with no evidence it was ever there.
I kinda like it because it makes them super sensitive!
EDIT: Searched this thread to find that there is no foam!
3D printing of the Cannon. Two of my mechanical engineers are pinheads and have done some work with 3D printing. I pulled the cannon out of my BR, modeled it, implemented significant changes around the hinge (common point of failure) and then printed 3 test articles.
The fit up and functionality of the design is spot on. The bad news is that the printing composite we used did not hold up well in the game. Specifically at the cannon edge / play-field area. We noted micro chipping in the material and were concerned that the debris could get bonded to the balls in play, damaging the play-field graphics.
We have a dialog going with the distributor we use for 3D printer support and materials.
There are plenty of materials to choose from however, the selection is not so good when it comes to transparent / clear material, which is how the original cannon was produced.
More details to follow in a few weeks

My stock targets never had any. Added after restore

This is great work and although it’s bad news about the micro chipping it’s better to hear about it now rather than later. I admire you attempting to find a solution for those with broken cannon parts
Keep up the great work

What material did you use? I’m curious, as there doesn’t seem to be any way to 3D print a clear piece at all - and you’d need something that’s a big flexible to stand up to the strain

Great to hear. Have you considered making a die and doing injection molding? I don't know much about that but my local hackerspace has a bad ass 5 axis cnc.
Quoted from nitrojcrawf:My stock targets never had any. Added after restore
I added a soft (light-grey) foam to my targets while cleaning it after initial pin purchase but immediately realized that the targets no longer registered hits reliably after that; balls with low force couldn't press the target deep enough. I removed about 50% of the foam with a knife from each target and now it seem to work properly.
I'm still not sure that 100% of all hits registers so I might actually remove all foam in the future, back to what it was from the beginning. I guess the saying "if it work then don't fix it" still is accurate
Had some extra blue plexi so whipped up a replacement for the top of the Whirlpool ramp. Engraved the whirlpool text on top. I've added a blue LED strip hooked up to the associated flasher. I'm currently shopping mine out, excited to see how it looks lit up. Thoughts?

Great job!! I like the etched Whirlpool design....waaaaaaay better than the sticker that keeps falling off of mine.
Quoted from allsportdvd:Looks pretty cool! Are you offering them up for sale?
If I get enough interest I'll do a run.
Here's another photo with that same thin blue LED strip on the side.

I will take one Whirlpool cover when you do a run. And Ill patiently wait for Freeplay40 to make the ramp.

Well that's enough interest for me!
I'll be doing a run of my whirpool ramp plastic.
I also created these slingshot protectors if you'd like one or both of these.
I plan to suspend my hackerspace subscription where this laser cutter is at the end of the month, so please PM me if you'd like one. Thanks!

Is this right? The tension to open the gate is much more than I would expect...

Perfect, the ball will move it. Overtime it will loosen up a little. The idea is to grab that ball amd prevent a bounce out.
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:Perfect, the ball will move it. Overtime it will loosen up a little. The idea is to grab that ball amd prevent a bounce out.
True! Installed it and did a few tests. Not gonna get super lucky anymore but it's pretty generous.
I also put some dampening foam at the back of the ball guide.
Quoted from allsportdvd:Has anyone put a Color DMD led screen in their BR?
How do you deal with the USB part when the DMD mounts onto the front of the backbox door?

It's on page 15
Quoted from allsportdvd:Has anyone put a Color DMD led screen in their BR?

Yes, colordmd is awesome in BR. The chroma board comes off easy and you screw into back of white board.
Finished shopping out my game! Totally rebuilt the cannon mechanism. The 2 tone (red/white) GI is VERY cool! The Tilt Graphics blades look great.
My new Whirlpool ramp cover plastic is very cool. Wired a very thin LED strip with the ramp flasher so it lights up everytime you hit the ramp.
Has anyone tried to put a color dmd LCD screen in? I have seen that the led screen fits with removing the board. I just have an extra LCD laying around and was thinking maybe

It will cover GI lighting at top 4 inches. You could remove bulbs and try.
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:It will cover GI lighting at top 4 inches. You could remove bulbs and try.
That's what I was thinking. It's worth a shot
Quoted from Axl:If you hard plunge, where should the ball go? Up davey Jones locker?
Yes, up the locker and around the back. At least that's what it does for me. If I remember correctly the game is supposed to use the hardest type of spring (the red one?).
