I'm restoring a Black Pyramid that was DOA when I received it. I just removed the Swinging Target Motor for cleaning and possible repair.

On the target arm assembly, there's some sort of repair that includes a cable tie, some sort of crafty string, and some white tape, and I can't figure out what it should look like. See pics.

I'm pretty sure there's some parts missing.

I assume that the two arms are there to isolate the abuse that the target gets, and there needs to be some connection between the two arms aside from the pin at the bottom. Maybe that string is replacing (poorly) some other part that connects the two arms?

Does anyone have any photos of what that target arm assembly should look like? What the hell is that string accomplishing? And why the white tape?

Kind of hard to get a good angle using my tablet, hopefully this will help. If not, let me know and I'll see if I can get a better shot for you.

I had to re-wire mine, it had some odd braided wire that was literally falling apart. Mine had electrical tape wrapped around the arm holding the wire, I used rip ties when I rewired it.

Thanks for that. I see your washer under the e-clip is different than mine (mine is like two misaligned steel washers glued together).

Did you happen to notice if there's a part that holds the two arms together aside from the cable tie? There's a stud of some sort on each arm (where mine had that string between the two studs), and I was guessing that there's supposed to be something else, maybe some sort of spring steel clip or something.

There should be a spring going across those 2 posts on the inner part of the arms. My cable tie only holds the wires to the outer arm to keep them from flopping around, not holding the arms together.

Ah...it's a spring! I should've realized that when I saw the grooves in those posts. Thanks a bunch for figuring that out for me.....

If you get really ambitious, there are some LEDs available to light that moving target.
I saw that on a TNT video where they refurbished a Black Pyramid and added that.
See attached...

That's cool. Any idea who sells the led kit for the target or instructions on how to do it?

Mr Tuckey specifically mentions the vendor in the video and provides their website URL written out on the screen.
Perhaps the vendor will provide some instructions, but it does not look too complicated from what I saw on the video.
