Made my first pinball mod. Removed the cut out horse w/knight and painted a schleich dragon knight action figure. Also ordered 2 play field accent spotlights and red led bulbs to highlight the knight. I think it looks much better.

Full set protectors:

https://www.playfield-protectors.com/Home/Details/Vht9yuFZo06d7XYKcRU2Sg

While they are spendy, I might hold out for a colored set. They look really good on my IMDN.

ok mod Gods, saw this on location last night playing BK:SoR … im gonna need someone to make a protector for here and sell it along with the other protectors please...[quoted image][quoted image]

Send a message to [email protected] and we can get them made. With pic.

Just got my pro unboxed and set up last night.

No premium/LE set. I much prefer clear over colors.

Still waiting for an LE. Anyone else still waiting for an LE?

Yup. Heard from my distributor that I should have my LE in a week or so.

Yes. Because it’s against the rules for me to get a NIB game on time.

The upper playfield adds some deliciously pleasant shots. The 3 ball catapult is most excellent. An almost guaranteed multiball if your skills are not failing you. In addition, the upper playfield loop just absolutely pisses off the black knight. Especially when you can get the mojo and loop it 4-6 times consecutively. It takes a quick eye to flipper reaction, but is very satisfying. If you can spare a few extra bucks go premium/LE.

As far as the magna save location. love it! Center bar is the perfect spot. The key, use it or you lose it.

"Stick to the KISS principle."

56 play and 2 broken plastics already. You all better get some protection for your new games.

Had my LE for a week, like it more everyday!

Ok guys . LE owner here . 3 issues . Ball sometimes gets locked behind the shield and ball search will not clear it . shield will not stay up long enough for ball to roll out . Contacted Stern to address on next code update .
Magnasave button not by flipper button like original black knight but on lock down bar . Makes too hard to make quick decision . I am thinking about adding a button by the right flipper button for magnasave .
Also upper playfied ball constantly drained about every time just rolled past the flipper at the bottom of the upper playfield. Impossible to get any bounce off rubber due to posts all throughout it . Problem solved . Installed a flipper rubber as shown in pic . Makes the game do much more playable and fun . I suggest all Premium and LE owners do this .
Overall a fun game . I love after you get all the Knight letters that the game reverts to original soundtrack and sounds . A nice treat !
In the South ? Come play it at The Pinball Palace in Brunswick Ga

I had the same issue with the ball getting stuck under the shield. On the pro the only other annoying thing I’ve had is the plastic on the upper left. I had to remove it because it kept coming loose and flopping over the wire form to catch and hold the balls going up the ramp.. frankly I’m surprised it didn’t break. I can’t believe that think doesnt have feet or something to keep it from shifting

#318 4 years ago

Put the LE out to play on location Wednesday at Comics2games in Florence, KY. Have been loving this game. That 6 ball multi ball and upper playfield mixes it up and balances gameplay strategy more than the pro model. Still just as brutal but definitely fun and a keeper.

QC issues at stern?

Missing flat head screw at the top ball drop scoop. I snooped around in playfield, looked under playfield in cabinet. Nada. Checked all magnets to see if they picked up any loose metal. Nada. Come on Rich! For 9k$ this machine should definitely not be missing a screw. Clearly a Robot did not put this machine together. Tried and true human error.

Fyi, this does cause the scoop to sag slightly which will in some instances catch the ball at the very end. It will hang before it slips through.

Stern pls. send me replacement screws? Hello from Texas!

When I unboxed mine the head of the black knight was laying on the upper playfield. Luckily I found the proper screw in the bottom of the cabinet. Yeah for $9000 you would expect things like this not be be missed, and even better quality on these cheap ass plastics they are using.

Anyone else think the left side plastic looks weird ? Why is it 2 pieces? Should be be a solid piece, I am sure it was to fit more plastics per cut sheet or some thing like that.

$0.20 and a trip to the hardware store should get you back online while you wait for screws to arrive.

#322 4 years ago

That sucks. Another tip for the the newbs. Skip step 2 of machine setup... Do not pull the legs out. until you have cut the box open. The legs are not attached in the narrow box sleeves. The legs will stay in the box and will fall backwards in some cases. If you have the LE. Pray a tip of the metal leg does not hit the glass and break it.

Not cool!

It most cases it will hit the head box(wood). Not worth the chance. If you have Gorilla arms you can reach down in and grab the legs. My recommendation is to leave the narrow box tubes in machine. Cut the back box open then gently pull the box tubes with legs out.

Spooky is for sure not immune. My buddy’s TNA came out of the box with a non working LCD display.

Right on! I had a bad node board in my Stern AS LE NIB. I get it. PCB boards go bad or connectors wiggle loose. This is a nutz and boltz issue. Unacceptable.

Any adjustments people are making on their games?

My LE was pretty much plug and play but it seems like the music is down from when I was at MGC (makes sense). I'm also having a heck of a time with the metal ramp shots making it up top. I know all the inner shots are pretty tight on this but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do. I'd say only 1 in 4 'solid' shot make it up top.

Yeah my LE was total plug and play too. Not the slightest problem out of the box. Any shot with decent speed makes it to the upper playfield from the flail lane ramp, so there must be something out of whack on yours?

The only changes I've made was to install protectors on the shooter lane, under the front of the apron and on the sling and flipper lane plastics. I would really like a full set of CLEAR plastic protectors because there are a lot of plastics on this game that I suspect will not last long otherwise. I would also like some cool speaker lights with cutouts and possibly a Cliffy protector for the shield lock. Today I'm installing the real knocker and the quiet fan mod. Also, will be connecting the game to a Polk subwoofer today!

Loving the game so far. One question, I got a piece of mylar with my L E and I don't know where it goes does anybody have an idea? Thank you in advance.

Like 6 inches up from where it's sitting maybe?

#334 4 years ago

Thanks guys, I see it now. Duh anyway I made my own plastic protector for the plastic on the left hand side above the sling by the 2 stand up . Here are the pics, was a 15 minute fix on my ryobi bandsaw. Then I just added washers to the other plastic piece right there to even them out.

What's your raw material & source? Looks great. Did you have to flame polish the edges or anything or does it cut clean?

#337 4 years ago

It is 1/8" plexiglass I got it off of eBay. Don't remember what it cost. No flamed edges just cut on my Ryobi bandsaw. Took the plastic off itself made a little mini pattern and cut it on the saw.

Quoted from Chalkey:

Lowes and Home Depot sell small sheets of Lexan or Polycarbonate. Do not use acrylic. A scroll saw does a nice job, drill press for the holes and then a progression of sandpaper grades to smooth the edges.

#339 4 years ago

EBay was about half the price, that's why I went with eBay. Here's a pic of a platform I fabricated for my TWD for Daryl's bike. I even sold one of these to a fellow pinsider.

Hey I'm glad you posted this...I've only gotten a dozen games in but was hearing a clinking at the top of the shooter. I am missing the exact same screw. I emailed stern and my distributor (wasn't sure who to contact).

Has anyone seen a good set of art blades for the Pro? They seem hard to find right now.

#345 4 years ago

I did black mirror blades from PinballDecals and love them. Lots of real estate to cover up in that cabinet!

I posted pics before but here are a few for anyone that missed it.

Super recommend. Black Knight, black blades. A perfect fit!

Yes it is, mine has somehow moved it's way down and wedged under the playfield once. Was easy to pop it back out but it caused the upper playfield flipper to stick up. Have also had the ball get stuck on it while the flipper is up. Very cheap plastic for sure.

#347 4 years ago

I’m getting a ball stuck there about once every 3 games.

I got the other protector made. I went ahead a flamed the edges on both that I made.

Total break out game here. Still didn't get to the black castle! Drained right after qualifying. GC at our location was 252 mil and I didn't think it'd ever get beaten, nevermind by a scrub like me.

This game has a crazy "just one more game" factor.
